I have bought both of your chess books now, but I preferred the larger format and the colour in the first one (50+ quick wins). While the content in both is excellent, the moves are a lot harder to follow in the tiny black and white diagrams in "Assassin" - maybe I need new reading glasses?

How can you spend "quite a bit of time and money" learning a trick that takes 5 minutes to master?

The rubber hose from a school bunsen burner, when tied around a car's prop shaft makes a hell of a noise when people drive away but goes silent when they stop. Sorry (not really)

No one needs a crowbar, until they really need a crowbar - better to have one and not need it, than need one and not have it.

Like many people who apologise for their English, yours is perfect. Perfectly punctuated, perfectly structured, better than the majority of native English speakers.

First of all, congratulations. I envy you your opportunity to experience Pratchett for the first time in the warm certainty that 40+ books await. I'd recommend anything with Death in it, Reaper Man is a favourite of mine, but the Witches or the Guards are also excellent places to get the addiction

CO2 is heavier than air (quite a lot heavier). Rats were not being knocked out by CO2 "coming off the brew" - they were probably drinking it and fell in. Once in a vat, the CO2 could then get them
