You’re right. We talked about the Wilder books in the planning stage ( we’d all read them ourselves or to our children) & the whole programme arose out of an essay I read on Maurice Sendak in Slightly Foxed….but when it came down to it, you’re right, Very British. A fail.

1. The political opportunity Labour had coming in to win over more farmers & ‘deep rural’ voters
