Mostly just random, but on occasion have been known to wax poetic/get super nerdy about: CBRN/CWMD, nuclear weapons, deterrence, etc.

I never had an M17, but when I had an M9 on my last Iraq tour, shoulder holster was the way. Especially for navigating the port-a-johns without having to take a leg or hip holster off.

I have at least tried to make things dual-use whenever possible - black water resistant shoes that are business casual enough and meet close toe safety requirements for part of my trip. Black scarf thing that doubles as a light blanket for my flight. Insulated tights for wear under skirts or pants.

Yeah, the shoes alone bust the carry on, given I also have to carry a laptop and other bulky stuff. I'm not acclimated to the cold anymore, ya girl needs snivel gear.

🧡: I'm uniquely qualified to frisk this. From 2010 to 2014 I was the Cultural Advisor to the Commandant & Professor of National Security & Strategy at US Army War College & the Deputy to the Director of the US Army Culture & Foreign Language Directorate. I'll explain what that meant at the end. 1/

People who can do an entire week of work travel (and not be in the same uniform every day), how tf do you manage it with just a carry on?

Rhetorical question because I could never.

Honestly every time I plan a work trip to DC, there is seldom enough time to meet up with everyone I want to see or go to all the places to which I want to go.

Also, rude that I have to pack an extra bag because where I live is Not Cold and DC right now is Cold.

Counselor: These feelings of "everything sucks," how long have you had them?

Butt-head: Uhh, since everything started to suck, I guess.

The Myth of the Warfighter The Soldier and the Educational Institutions

Evidently, something was broken with the other link. So, here, I've written about the right-wing attacks on PME and civilian educational institutions.

This post is … not sarcasm. It’s an accurate summary of the whole thing. It sadly is.

This paragraph here? It’s not actually a paragraph. If you read it aloud, each phrase more cursed than the one before it, you’ll summon a Great Old One.

And the paragraphs that follow are, somehow, crazier still.

A text string that reads:
Person 1: "But yesterday managed to burn the fuck out of my hand - reflexively tried to catch a hot sheet pan that I dropped as I was pulling it out of the oven with the hand that I didn't have tbe glove on πŸ€¦πŸ½β€β™€οΈ doing better now, several hours and a lot of aloe gel later, but it's still a bit tender"
Person 2: "Thinking of that scene from Mr./Mrs. Smith where Brad Pitt casually drips a wine bottle and Angelina's hand darts out to catch it. You can't help your own hired assassin training."
Person 1: "I'm gonna go with that story from now on 🀣"

Hand is doing much better today - I'd say it's at about 90% functionality.

Still tender in spots, but I was able to sweep the entire apartment AND chop up and freeze the last few good onions I had on the counter before they inevitably go bad during the week.

So I just wanted to remind everyone one of the principles of malignant accounts: the 60-40 rule

it's funny in a way, but the rubio speech is an AI-quality imitation of an Obama speech, but with ethnonationalism replacing pluralism. It's as if the prompt were, "write me an obama speech but make it white supremacist." Hasn't been president in a decade but they're still biting

Yes, the stuff used to kill Navalny was a toxin.

But the Novichok that nearly killed him before was not a toxin.

Not everything that is poisonous is a "toxin"

This is Lil Cat.

She’s in Mendocino. A little shy. VERY sweet. 8 years old. And was well loved.

Can anyone give her a soft spot to land?

That face!

If not, can you share?

Maryland health officials warn providers about an upsurge in mumps cases Maryland health officials are warning about an uptick in cases of mumps.

Measles is a bellwether. Because it’s the most contagious vaccine-preventable disease, when vaccination rates drop, it’s the first to start spreading.

Now we’ve got mumps rolling up.

Expect more.

This is just the beginning of RFK Jr.’s successful infectious disease reintroduction plan.
