It was cute, how round Jungkook's cheeks could get while he chewed, the sweet way he tilted his head for Nari when she nuzzled his temple encouragingly, the subtle blush on his face from having someone's attention. Namjoon had never really let himself think too much about Jungkook's beauty—Not with his overprotective family, not with how distant the omega had always been—but now, even with bags under Jungkook's eyes and resignation on the slope of his shoulders, Namjoon caught his mind making up for lost time. He was thinking about it, alright. There was a nudge to Namjoon's thigh under the table: his father, pretending to wipe drool from his own chin with a smirk. Namjoon pointedly ignored him, but he heard Goeun clear her throat by his other side to hide her snicker. The sound unfortunately stood out amidst the complete lack of conversation.

The first thing Namjoon noticed, as always, was the change to his senses, Jungkook's inviting omega signature catching his nose immediately, even muted as it was with grief and his habit of not drawing much attention to himself. Namjoon had never smelled him from so close, nor for so long, and though his own blood, their families' presence, and the reek of alcohol in the air tainted the richness Jungkook's scent, the only word Namjoon could use to describe him—As inappropriate as it would've sounded out loud—was edible. Ripe, tantalizing, delicious. Namjoon made sure to keep his own scent in check as Jungkook's hands roamed his torso, but even as his care made every wound sting and ache, Namjoon couldn't help but enjoy his touch; delicate and precise, slightly cool against his skin. Namjoon hoped it wouldn't stay as clinical once they got to know each other better, his unruly imagination already running astray with thoughts of Jungkook touching him for pleasure, for his own curiosity and desire, instead of patching him up. He wanted his wounds to heal faster, wanted Jungkook's hands on his body without the aches and exhaustion from the attack; Jungkook's tattooed fingers combing through his hair, through his fur, or maybe Jungkook's cute black muzzle buried in his lighter coat as they got tangled together in a puppy pile. He knew he would crash a little easier after the rogues and the rushed journey here, but having Jungkook's sweet company lulling him to sleep every night could probably put his insomnia to dust.
