15 Detective Games To Put On Your β€œSuspect List” In 2026 Here are 15 mystery and detective games releasing in 2026 that fans of the genre can check out!

Not to mention that finding out a person on, like, a two-dev team is bad is so much more impactful on my will to engage with it. Gotta work on applying that to AAA. Still sad about learning an indie I loved is actually made by someone contributing to the issues I thought it so clearly condemned. Eh.

A followup thought I had to this is that indie is not free of plenty of other shared faults. There are sizable pockets in indie spaces that contribute to the same problems, and there's equal disappointments in the people involved in them. Kinda still struggling with Silksong being such an Xbox tool.

Following indie games makes me happy. Even if they don't make it, they poured their heart out and followed their dreams. Their stories inspire. In the AAA space, people can pour their heart out for years for it all to get cancelled, it's all outside their control.
Play Demon Tides, Angeline Era.

Indie 3D platformers are downplayed, unfairly pitted against each other, and have to fight to even be considered art on the same level their big-budget peers. I would love nothing more than for that perception to change. I'm putting my money where my mouth is for my new favorite game in the space.

Backloggd is Letterboxd which is Twitter. Mass culture of snark. Lots of "post the popular take/joke you saw elsewhere." Follows give people confidence to turn any window where you can write text into the same public journal. Yet we still spread takes around other sites. Me too, I'm here. But why?

The issue with every site gaining social features is that everyone wants to run away from a different social site, but they all eventually become the same one. You just entrench yourself and take the few truly unique annoyances of the one you picked on top of the universal ones. I never escaped any.

As a licensed game appreciator, I really gotta play those Iron Man movie tie-ins because it's hard for me to imagine many things being overall worse than Anthem. Every time I think about Anthem and Owen... gosh, I hated that story so bad. But, also, play mecha games! Not bullet sponge simulators!

13.01.2026 10:04 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Anthem is dead. Happy I got to beat it a few years back before that, one day I hope to say I beat every Bioware game. That being said, seeing sentiments like "it had potential" or "the flying felt so good" feels nuts. Imagine if the only thing people said about Elden Ring is that Torrent is so cool.

Sometimes I do yea, but ultimately I don't think it's, like, anything weird to just feel excited that I found some angle to enjoy something others don't. As long as it isn't creating malice to others, I think it's ultimately worth exploring, even should my hype fade after a bit if it was a tad fake.

More licensed games. Finished The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct. A very ugly, Wii-feeling game, sure, but it's a structurally sound, neat, replayable mini-survival horror. Tad incompetent is all. Better than you'd think given its reputation, still C-tier at best. Screenshots courtesy of MobyGames.

Update on weird and usually licensed games I played since the last bunch: Tigger's Honey Hunt. Loved Winnie the Pooh as a kid, loved the game too, nowadays: great vibes, but I was disappointed with how much it tries to be a platformer. Speedrun challenges, really? In my friend group, I'm known as the guy who reacts in a humorously insane manner to the plethora of insane video game genres and comparisons. There was always a nugget of truth in that, and the recent Sword and Fairy 4 debacle felt like a good time to bring back this idea for an article back.

Second game was Hugo: Frog Fighter. Hugo is a Danish troll, a mascot that was once very, very popular in some parts of Europe. The game is a 20-minute-long Frogger clone with some great music and cool stages, but it's hard to see depth sometimes. Pretty wild they made games this short on the system.
