when you can't remember if you took your meds so you start La T opening the pill bottle to see if the experience feels familiar enough to have happened recently

I use weekly pill sorters for everything except my pain meds. Why not my pain meds? Because I naively tell myself, “Maybe you won’t need pain meds that day.” It’s a little joke I tell myself because I literally never have a day where I don’t need them.

Despite a hip injection a month ago, my hip has been excruciating the past couple days. I think it’s because of my altered gait due to my foot injury.

Can we sip bottomless mimosas while we elevate our injured feet by the pool?

Ouch! That sounds painful.

Prior to the injury, I had Achilles tendonitis for several years that went untreated. Very painful. I guess one upside of my current state is that THAT doesn’t hurt anymore! 😂😂😂

When we reviewed my MRI, the surgeon pointed to a large white area on the image. “That’s where your Achilles tendon should be.” 😳

Oh! Oh! Oh! And this weekend, SOMEHOW the pain level in my foot dropped from 8 to 2, literally overnight!

I have no idea why, but I’m not going to look a gift horse in the mouth!

Surgeon says: NO SURGERY! 🎉🎉🎉

We agreed that the risks outweigh any potential benefits. I’ll be fitted with a custom stabilizing brace to wear when I leave the house.

I can live with that!

Today is the first day my foot legit hurts less than the day before.

This means one of two things:
1) my foot is healing
2) my brain now accepts the pain as part of our baseline

The ortho’s office called me to change my appointment from the podiatrist to the SURGEON! And it’s still scheduled for Monday!

It feels like the first thing that’s gone right this whole week.

I guess I should just be glad I found out BEFORE I went through the labor of hauling my ass to their office for an utterly useless appointment.

Fortunately, I called around and found another place that could provide a wheelchair sooner than August 29th. Now I just need the insurance company to approve it. Hopefully that won’t take long.

Being disabled is just fucking exhausting.
