Tony Gilroy on the Final Three Episodes of β€˜Andor’ Season 2 The Watch Β· Episode

#Andor fans: Highly recommend this conversation w/ Tony Gilroy. Chris and Andy are insightful as always. Gilroy is an amazing filmmaker. Many nuggets in there, including Diego Luna as Jason Bourne in Ep. 9, and deep dives into some of the best characters and actors (so many!) #TheWatch #TheWatchPod

Just finished it last night. She was amazing right until the last moment on screen … slumped over, the character presumably thinking about all that landed her there

Living Colour releases β€œCult of Personality” as a single today in 1988.

β€œIt’s not a condemnation,” said singer Corey Glover. β€œIt’s more of a commentary on how we, as a culture, are drawn to strong personalities. Sometimes we follow without question. That’s what makes it dangerous.”

Hoping Bluesky shines, and the cesspool, X, sinks to the bottom - The Boston Globe Bluesky, a relatively new social media platform in the mold of what's now Elon Musk's site, is prioritizing sports content to grow.

Spot on reporting and observations here by @chadfinn.bsky.social β€œIt’s too bad Twitter has been destroyed. It was a terrific reporting aide for journalists. It was fun. But those days are long gone. Grok confirming the site’s Nazi underpinnings was the last straw”

That’s for sure! Bello is looking this year like the pitcher I was hoping he’d develop into. And I thought Rafaela was on the bubble earlier this year … but wow how things have changed. He might be better than JBJ in the field, and he’s certainly better at the plate.

There is one place, however, where Musk, with the help of his minions, achieved his goals. He did indeed shred U.S.A.I.D. Though a rump operation is now operating inside the State Department, the administration says that it has terminated more than 80 percent of U.S.A.I.D. grants. Brooke Nichols, an associate professor of global health at Boston University, has estimated that these cuts have already resulted in about 300,000 deaths, most of them of children, and will most likely lead to significantly more by the end of the year. That is what Musk’s foray into politics accomplished.

Musk should be asked about this in every interview he does now and forever. To ignore it is a dereliction of duty.

The biggest endorsement I can make for Bluesky is that replacing Twitter with this app on my phone probably improved my general mood when I’m on my phone by 20-25%. I know there are better reasons but it is what it is!

Tom Morello’s performance at #BostonCalling was uplifting and inspiring. His imagery was beautiful and haunting. His message was urgent and articulate. And, of course, he and his band shredded. Thank you @tommorelloofficial.bsky.social, for giving me a little hope

Michael Felger’s family-unfriendly stance on athletes and coaches is consistent, but as bizarre as ever - The Boston Globe β€œIt’s just the tone you set and the example you set for the team,” said Felger, criticizing Red Sox manager Alex Cora for missing Monday's game following his daughter's college graduation.

4chan Is Dead. Its Toxic Legacy Is Everywhere It's likely that there will never be a site like 4chan again. But everything nowβ€”from X and YouTube to global politicsβ€”seems to carry its toxic legacy.

"Once Elon Musk bought Twitter in 2022, there was really no point to 4chan anymore. Why hide behind anonymity if a billionaire lets you post the same kind of extremist content under your real name?" @ryanhatesthis.bsky.social on the death and legacy of 4chan: www.wired.com/story/4chan-...

My daughter worked hard, graduated summa in 2022 in neuroscience from a prestigious US university, has worked tirelessly in a lab trying to find a cure for Alzheimer’s, was admitted to a PhD program at the Chan Medical School - only to have all offers rescinded. She’ll likely be headed to Europe.
