Marriage equality is secure for now, but history shows legal rights can be fragile. Vigilance & proactive legal planning are essential. Complacency isnβt an option.
13.08.2025 22:47 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Also consider reviewing/updating property, financial, & guardianship documents to ensure protections if laws change. These steps safeguard your rights & family now, regardless of future court decisions.
13.08.2025 22:47 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0What LGBTQ+ couples can do now to protect their families:
Follow the 9 key legal documents recommended by @YourGayLawyer (POA, healthcare proxy, will, etc.)
Pursue second-parent adoption, even if both parents are on the birth certificate
Federal law helps: the 2022 Respect for Marriage Act requires all states to recognize same-sex marriages performed elsewhere. But itβs not a permanent shieldβstate-level attacks & court challenges are possible.
13.08.2025 22:47 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Even if Trump hasnβt publicly prioritized overturning Obergefell, his admin has pursued Project 2025 policies restricting LGBTQ+ rights in schools, healthcare, & federal programsβcreating a legal environment that normalizes challenges.
13.08.2025 22:47 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Justices Clarence Thomas & Samuel Alito have openly questioned Obergefell. They only need a few votes to hear a challenge. Legal petitions like Davis v. Ermold keep the issue alive.
13.08.2025 22:47 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The Court overturned Roe v. Wade, ending nearly 50 years of precedent. Obergefell v. Hodges has only been law for 10 years. No precedent is untouchable.
13.08.2025 22:47 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0𧡠The Supreme Court could revisit same-sex marriage. Some experts say βdonβt worry,β but history & current politics suggest we canβt be complacent. Hereβs why β¬οΈ
13.08.2025 22:47 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0These documents help secure control, safety, and peace of mind for my family, no matter what happens next.
If youβre LGBTQ+ and want to protect your family, now is the time to prepare.
Preparation is resistance.

Now, with the Supreme Court soon deciding whether to take up a case aimed at overturning Obergefell v. Hodges, weβre moving on to protecting our assets and ourselves.
12.08.2025 18:47 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0We knew this administration was coming after LGBTQ+ individuals and families, so we proactively ensured we had all the legal paperwork in place to protect our rights as parents to our children β including having the non-bio parent adopt our kids.

SCOTUS upholds a ban on gender-affirming care as the CDC backs lenacapavirβan HIV prevention breakthrough priced out of reach. Different issues, same fight: everyone deserves access to life-saving, evidence-based care. Let science lead, not politics.

The Supreme Courtβs decision in US v. Skrmetti is devastating. Letting Tennesseeβs ban stand endangers trans youth and opens the door to broader attacks on trans rightsβsports, bathrooms, even adult care.
This fight is far from over. Stand up, speak out, and protect trans lives.

Hereβs what the journey looked like:
A peaceful river scene with a small waterfall flowing over a low dam surrounded by lush green trees under a partly cloudy sky. A wooden deck with patio furniture overlooks the water in the foreground. The word βLOVEβ is prominently displayed on the opposite bank near the trees.
Eating breakfast by a creek, watching a blue heron fish + a duck family nap at the shore, ducklings tucked in. Itβs #BiodiversityDayβ this peace is fragile. Protect nature like your life depends on itβbecause it does. πΏπ¦
