Sex discrimination in college admissions has persisted, in large part, due to a little known exception to Title IX for private undergraduate admissions, lobbied for by elite universities at the time

Affirmative action has always benefited white men most. I saw this firsthand during my time as an admissions officer and I wrote about the legal implications in law school in 2016: journals.law.harvard.edu/crcl/wp-cont...

Among the proposals mgmt has made so far: 1) pay *decreases* for several Union members 2) restrictions to make it more difficult to access funds in our gender affirming care pool and 3) rollbacks to existing just cause and progressive discipline protections to make it easier to fire Union staff

Another preventable and tragic death because of Texasโ€™s abortion ban. It reminds me of a quote from People v Belous, the 1969 California Supreme Court case that invalidated CAโ€™s abortion ban before Roe. Though the ban had a life exception, the court still found that:

I'm one of the four fired employees. I was a writer & producer at Bon Appรฉtit for nearly five years, during which I helped organize our union and sat on our bargaining committee.

I am, to my knowledge, the only trans woman in our union and the only trans woman on editorial who doesn't work at Them

How federal judges put a trans civil rights lawyer under criminal investigation A "ego driven, petty" attack targets attorneys who fought a transgender care ban in Alabama.

In Alabama, a trans civil rights lawyer is facing criminal charges; three civil rights lawyers are fighting sanctions.

I spoke to @chrisgeidner.bsky.social about how federal judges came after a team of civil rights lawyers who challenged a transgender care ban

Coverage for Vaccines
Carriers are expected to provide coverage for all vaccines and the cost to administer vaccines, without cost-sharing and without the use of any utilization management, for persons covered under Massachusetts-issued insured health plans who satisfy the recommended guidelines established by DPH for the provision of immunizations in Massachusetts. Carriers are expected to update all Evidences of Coverage in accordance with 211 CMR 52.13, and to make clear in all online information how eligible persons may access covered benefits for vaccines.

Carrier products with prescription drug formularies may limit access to vaccines to those specified on their plan formularies, provided that there is at least one product on the plan formulary that will address each item on the DPH recommended guidelines for vaccines. Health plans that offer non-emergency coverage through a closed network of providers may limit access to those health care practitioners or pharmacies that are part of their closed networks.

Massachusetts is outdoing other states because they are the first to require insurers to cover the cost of COVID shots and other vaccines recommended by state health officials.

Vaccines are not accessible if they are unaffordable. Every state needs to follow their lead!

None of this is to say that a cert grant is impossible, that overturning Obergefell isnโ€™t a serious goal of this admin, or that people shouldnโ€™t start thinking about ways to protect themselves and their families, but I am approaching all of this coverage with skepticism and a lot of questions.

Davis filed her most recent petition on July 24. I can only find 2 articles about it in July from Catholic News Agency and Courthouse News Service. Weeks later, itโ€™s all over social and mainstream media as if it happened yesterday. Why? Did someone tip off MSM? In whose interest is it to fuel panic?

12.08.2025 20:42 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 3    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

In fact, Davis asked the Court to hear her case in 2020 and cert was denied. Reporting on it was slim, because again, cert petitions are rarely newsworthy.

12.08.2025 20:42 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 2    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Despite misleading headlines, the Court has not decided yet whether to take up the case. SCOTUS receives 7 to 8 thousand cert petitions each year and decides to hear ~80. Rarely do petitions that havenโ€™t been granted make national news because there is roughly a 1% they will even be heard.

12.08.2025 20:42 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 3    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

There is so much context missing from the discussion of the Davis cert petition. People are understandably scared. Itโ€™s also incredibly dangerous to act like same sex marriage has already been overturned and much of the mainstream reporting is frankly irresponsible.

A mother and her teenage daughter in Pennsylvania have been arrested because the 17 year old self performed an abortion and they buried the fetal remains in the backyard.

They didnโ€™t violate the abortion ban.

So why have they been arrested?

In Prison, She Changed Constitutional Law. Meet the Trans Woman Behind the Case. Farmer v. Brennan is one of the most cited Supreme Court cases of all time. Few people know just how revolutionary Dee Farmer was.

Every jailhouse lawyer knows Dee Farmerโ€™s name, even if they donโ€™t know who she is.

What most of them donโ€™t know is that the person who paved the road for them was a transgender woman who filed her suit from a federal prison cell, in an era when her gender identity was considered a mental illness.

Such a good point on SCOTUS hypocrisy when it comes to Trump vs Biden:

They let a nationwide injunction kill Bidenโ€™s student loan relief when they had a chance to rule on it.

5 months into Trumpโ€™s presidency, suddenly nationwide injunctions are a grave threat to executive power and they must rule.

28.06.2025 14:41 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 7252    ๐Ÿ” 2883    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 238    ๐Ÿ“Œ 144

The left better start figuring out how to weaponize today's decision rather than just (rightfully) criticizing it.

- Go back into Judge Kaczmaryk's court to dissolve all of his nationwide orders.

- Pass gun bans and insist any order applies only to plaintiffs.
