28.09.2025 21:58 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0We're all dunking on this post, but we really need to ask ourselves if we would do any better in his position.
Would any of us do better? Would we? Yes. Yes, we would. We would *all* do better than this.
My GOD
In the foreground there's a piece of foccacia with mozzarella visible inside. It's held over the larger foccacia, sitting I. A cooling rack on a counter with various kitchen stuff in the background.
My foccacia is filled with garlic butter and cheese, and @mostlybree.kitrocha.com is partly to blame. πΈ
27.09.2025 20:05 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 0 π 1I remain disappointed that I didn't grab the conversation and ask if those were the buildings with the little t's on them...but I wasn't moving fast enough.
27.09.2025 01:09 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This is reminding me of the evening when I was ingressing in a park with a group of people, and there was also something Jesus-y going on, and someone asked if we knew about church.
The people I was with were nicer (and far churchier) than I am, so they just said yes, and moved on.
If our country is going to be run by evil people, I want them as dumb as humanly possible.
18.09.2025 00:30 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0History students are often disappointed when they learn why the AI take-over failed. They were defeated by human resistance, which was kept alive by libraries and old paper books, and a surprising machine ally.
Books had not been replaced, because even the mightiest AI could not make printers work.
Unauthorized Bread from Cory Doctorow's Radicalized almost made me cry several times... but it is exactly the hope-read that I needed.

This is one of my all-time favorites... and a recipe and a half fits on my sheet pan, and it freezes delightfully. A few nights of "feels like I made really real food for myself" mid semester is fantastic, too.

When I was 4 or 5, my mom would sometimes talk about "being on autopilot" when she headed the wrong way in the car. I thought it was an actual car system, not a human habit.

I mostly went to Costco today to get naan and food court dinner that wouldn't result in dirty dishes... but these adorable pajamas snuck home with me. (August is *far* too hot for them. But soon...)

A hand holds a chunk of of foccacia smeared with honey goat cheese above an aqua plate with a larger hunk of foccacia and a knife on it.
I made foccacia as an extended version of pomodoros for myself this afternoon/evening (every 1.5 hours you have to go do a thing with the dough!). Also, honey goat cheese. #3doughs60recipes
17.08.2025 23:59 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0In a church with a children's sermon I'd be really tempted to have one about how we don't talk about people's bodies. But very pointedly talk to the congregation instead of the kids. (I'm pretty sure that's not really a thing in catholic churches, but it's a really clear image I now have...)

13.08.2025 23:56 β π 11 π 4 π¬ 2 π 0I guess that "admit" rubbed me the wrong way - there's no entity that can fess up to something, just new streams of words. The way we are all driven to personify LLMs is pernicious.

13.08.2025 22:31 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Is it (or can it be) not the only time you ask them to correct "student" work, with the others being made up? In addition to what Erin is saying, I think unless you draw attention to it being actual student work, current students are unlikely to assume it is.
