The wing of Wing of Clatrotitan andersoni, from the Triassic of Australia. This is a fossilised wing in a dull grey bit of rock - the wing itself is redder in colour, and it has darker pigmented patches on it. It looks like a standard insect wing in many ways - it is long and ovalish in shape, but right in the middle there is a weird rounded structure that looks a bit like a seed case or something - it has lots of ridges on it.

For #FossilFriday here is a Titanopteran. Or rather, the wing of one! These were large insects, related to orthopterans (a group incl. e.g. grasshoppers, locusts and crickets). Members of the group reached ~40 cm in wingspan, and are only known from the Triassic Period (251-205 Ma).
