show, don't tell (story)
play, don't show (game)
run, don't play (software)
exist, don't run (art)
make, don't just exist (artist)
words =/= writing =/= story

this is bit off from Sos's "i exist" point. but how you all think about this?
calling oneself a solo musician is a statement and artistic choice i think. rather than something that you need to prove.
can't solodevs be same?
they should imo.
tbh that article doesn't seem to be written by a "solo writer"
23.01.2025 11:20 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0most cozy sim games are just colonization sims, where the colonized entities(people, land, creature) are compliant. or sometimes obedient. almost zero resistance against the colonizer. it's obviously very cozy to the player.
it's every human civilization's dream! no wonder why it's so popular!
so crisp
10.01.2025 09:20 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0sounds too similar to people worry about videogames. controlled virtual gratification that is counterproductive? that's like every art, philosophy, religion, contents, internet, social media, bluesky dot com.
30.12.2024 01:14 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0man bluesky became corrosively no-art-opinion-only place after the normal signup opened. ratio degree is apparent. all i see is words x3 desperately asking for an agreement. and opinions are not even trying to... stand out.

it's really the best time to focus on twitter.
chocking

but one thing is
that individual artists are way worse at maintaining their website than social media platforms.
you can constantly see links to portfolio website of literal "web game programmers" being broken after few years.

15.11.2024 14:19 β π 4 π 1 π¬ 2 π 0if you think there is a wrong way to creating things in a game jam,
all the "indie" and "art" become pointless.
such a clever theming

btw i need to reinstall this dadaist-impressionist artwork called Windows? wish me luck.
about steam tag:
Placid Plastic Duck Simulator is tagged as a game(in people's head it's videogame) because it's different from other softwares since it's an art. with intrinsic value assigned by it's creator. unlike non-art-softwares like Aseprite.
yeah you can ask "i can't just obey mass demographic".
but hey, we are discussing about real life cultural matter.
we need to see how real life people act in everyday language.
just like Later Wittgenstein said.
no normal person who play with kaleidoscope thinks it's a game.
these are all "games" in your definition.
but the world won't agree. people will say it's stupid to say that.
but when you put them in software and sell it on steam. world agree. the difference is Placid Plastic Duck Simulator is a software. thus videogame store.steampowered.com/app/1999360/...
is kaleidoscope as an object game?
it perfectly fits your fundamental definition of games.
i'm asking this question because quewon.github.io/doda/
this is a videogame. and not game. a software made by our friend.
the reason people feel that game "is hardest things to clearly define ever" is because they overlap game, videogame, play. in one bucket. just try to think videogame as a separate thing from other two. it's bigger than play, bigger than game. they can "contain" game and play. but not always.
