Dulhaniyaa by @taliabhatt.itch.io is Bollywood-inspired and leagues ahead of most contemporary romance that tends to have low/no stakes and is about two white cis gender-conforming women; takes place in Mumbai and the love interest is a butch trans woman dance instructor.

The only thing I would say that, if you end up posting sth about the book in the future that features its cover--like a review or live-read or w/e--I'd appreciate it if you used images of the updated cover rather than the old one

The book contents are completely unchanged except for the 'About the Author' bit, nor is the cover design any different really, so it's not such a big deal that it would warrant saving up for a new purchase

vanity publishing is when *you* pay a vanity press to publish your book. sometimes ignorant (often new) authors get scammed by these publishers. some people willingly choose to do it because they are promised a prestigious looking product and they have the money to burn

people sometimes fight over what indie vs self-publishing actually means. some argue, for example, that indie publishing is still being published by a small independent press vs self-publishing which is an author acting as their own publisher…

i think we can all agree neither is vanity publishing
