I believe I’m chairing 4, co-chairing 2, on 4 other internal committees, plus serving as a member of 2 extramural committees. I have a 2/2 teaching load.

So, the Giller thinks they should get a $5M bailout from the government, which is half the amount that the entire publishing industry got through the Canada Book Fund last year, after multiple (& CONTINUING) decades of underfunding.

And this $5M would fund 3 $100k prizes??

Israel destroyed Gaza’s printing presses, publishing houses, and bookstores. These were homes to memory, knowledge, and cultural continuity. Ink and manuscripts turned to ash. Presses were silenced mid-sentence.
