Anyway, while Ngoaqona has no true writting system and is exclusively a spoken language, for my own notes I use the latin script #basicbitch

Each word doesn’t have a 1:1 pheromone form, but rather a grouping of words (alarm, health, food, social status) which meaning is triggered when the smell is percieved. so “predator”, “pain”, “panic”, “run” is all proccessed under the grouping “alarm” 4/4

Ngoaq have a specialized olfactory system to interpret pheromones, in a similar way that our Wernicke’s Area processes written words. The brain processes this different to spoken language initally, but they are later converged in their WA equaivalent. 3/4

Pheromones aren’t the “written” form of the language, but act similar to written warnings as they can be long-lasting (marking territory, danger or food sources) and changes meanings based on chemicals / context. This isn’t language, but similar to how brain perceives 🛑 as “stop” 2/4
