There was this effortless cool about Robert Redford. The kind that we don't see too often anymore today. A man of timeless grace and gentlemanly acumen. A great actor and a greater intellectual. My god, there will never be another like him. And we are all better for the legacy he's left us with.

The visceral gut reaction I just had reading this. He was a pivotal figure for me in appreciating classic Hollywood films. May he rest in peace. And thank you for leaving behind an incredible legacy both in film and in political activism.

I never thought in my life I'd get to see #TheSoundOfMusic in theatres and tonight a bucket list moment fulfilled. To see every scene and every glance. Every moment of laughter and unspoken desire. The first song and the last. The proposal, the wedding, and the classic flag rip. I'm so lucky #TSOM60

The film also starred Michael Caine & Donald Sutherland in the roles of Horatio and Fortinbras, Prince of Norway, respectively.

This role came just one year before Christopher Plummer became a breakout leading man in "The Sound of Music." The definitive film Hamlet for me has always been the Kenneth Brannagh led & directed epic from 1996, but I have to say, I've found one that rivals it; & in black & white, gives it somehow, more gravitas, suspense & dramatic impact. I just finished watching "The High Commissioner" (also known as "Nobody Runs Forever"). Starring Rod Taylor and Christopher Plummer, this political neo noir spy thriller is just the right amount of suspense and intrigue, with a dash of debonair. A sleeper hit worth watching #ClassicFilmSunday

So, if you need me, I'll be over here immersed in the movies I've been enjoying and the past time I've been neglecting. It's quite good for the soul, you know (at least in my experience).

Romanticizing life. Finding beauty in little things. Seeking joy in past times we've always loved. Self care through art, literature, music, and film. Feeding my inner child with little joys she always gravitated towards. And after the weekend I've had, a little joy's in order 🥰

His iconic turn as Captain Von Trapp will forever be my fave, in part because it's the 1st role of his I ever remember watching, but watching some of his other films has reminded me (after a while of feeling kind of burnt out) of the beauty of life & finding joy in what we love.

My current film obsession is anything with Christopher Plummer in it. Which is a lot to choose from, because that man had quite a long & varied career. From "The Sound of Music" & "Return of the Pink Panther" to "Battle of Britain" & "Knives Out," I've just been enjoying it all.

Tonight's classic film viewing is "Roman Holiday." It was actually the first Audrey Hepburn film I ever watched.

Fun fact: the original plan was to film in Technicolor, but there wasn't enough in the budget, so they filmed in black and white. And yet, it makes the film even more beautiful #Filmsky

It's taken me years, but I'm finally settling into my first ever reading of "Jane Eyre." And I know I will be forever changed upon completing it. #Booksky #Bronte #GothicRomance

Yes, I loved it so much. And to know some of the locations she wrote about. Beautiful.

I also loved her modern retelling of Persuasion set in Niagara-on-the-Lake. She captured one of my favourite places so beautifully. If you haven't read it yet, it's titled "Once Persuaded, Twice Shy."

There's something so beautiful, melancholic & romantic about "Jane Eyre." Watching it on film is especially beautiful. The music. The soft, muted colours, the tension & the ultimate assessment on humanity. It speaks to me on such a deep level.
