View of Overton rd taken from Gloucester rd, itโ€™s been pedestrianise and there are benches and planters and cycle parking and space for new trees, at the top of the road, you can see contractors finishing the works.

Delighted that Overton Road pedestrianisation scheme is almost finished! As a local resident, I remember filling in the consultation. So nice to see a side road, barely used except for parking and as a cut through, now been turned into a lovely bit of public realm. Trees will be planted soon!

Jeremy Corbyn's New Group Sounds Very Much Like Another Party Which Is Rising On The Left The Greens' Zack Polanski told HuffPost UK that everything Corbyn is proposing aligns closely with his party.

The Green Party is a growing grassroots movement.

I'm running to be the next leader with our collective bold, positive vision to tackle power & wealth.

I want to work with anyone who wants to take on Reform & this Government.

The moment is right now.

PROSCRIPTION OF PALESTINE ACTION

AS THE LEADER OF THE GREEN GROUP IN BRISTOL, TAM INCREASINGLY CONCERNED AT THE FORCE SHOWN BY POLICE IN OUR CITY AND ACROSS THE COUNTRY THIS WEEKEND AT PEACEFUL PROTESTS.
The proscription of Palestine Action as a terrorist organisation is having, as many warned it would, a chilling effect on freedom of speech, and there is a lack of clear guidance on what people can say or do without risking arrest.
Are people at risk for advocating for the 17 Bristol citizens arrested this weekend for holding signs? When in other parts of the country, people doing the exact same were not arrested?
By contrast, in Canterbury, armed police threatened to arrest a woman engaging in peaceful protest and showing support for the people of Gaza without mention of any proscribed organisation.
All the while, hundreds of thousands of children in Gaza are suffering from hungerand many are dying of malnutrition. The UN chief recently said that Gaza's "last lifelines" are collapsing, with humanitarian conditions breaking down at an "accelerating" pace during Israel's offensive.
Bristol is built on the foundations laid down by those who stood up to overwhelming oppression. Creating an environment where peaceful protest can lead to arrests is a direct attack on the very principles Bristolians have long stood for.
Urgent clarity on the law and respect for the right to peacefully protest is urgently needed.
Meanwhile, we will continue to stand in solidarity with those who continue to speak out against injustice, and for the people of Palestine.

The right to protest is a key principle here in Bristol.

Protesters oppose 'plane stupid' plans for airport expansion Dozens gathered outside City Hall ahead of Tuesday evening's full council meeting

Congratulations to @is0belrussell.bsky.social for passing this motion opposing Bristol Airport expansion.

84% of people oppose expansion (although Bristol Labour abstained...); @bristolgreenparty.bsky.social stand against this pointless climate-wrecking.

Right now, Bristol City Council is discussing a Green motion entitled Stop Bristol Airport Expansion.

Councillors @is0belrussell.bsky.social, @serenaralston.bsky.social & @cllremmaedwards.bsky.social are speaking passionately for a green, sustainable transport system...and no airport expansion.

Part of the reason Iโ€™m so into politics was spending all my formative summers at Glastonbury festival. I learnt more about politics at Glastonbury than I think I did in my actual degree.

For those wittering on about how Glastonbury festival shouldnโ€™t โ€˜be politicalโ€™, and it was better when it was โ€˜ just a music festivalโ€™, my university dissertation circa 2001 is available in no good bookshops.

Today I doorknocked Jackie, who - unprompted - said this:

"Labour not taking part in the committee system is just so petty+undemocratic, and it does not get them or us anywhere. There are bigger problems to deal with both locally+nationally!"

People can see, and hate, democracy getting trampled on

Deputy PM Angela Rayner says the vote on the Labour government's UC & PIP cuts for disabled people next Tuesday IS going ahead.

So the big question is - will all the Labour rebels who signed the amendment against these cuts hold their nerve? Greens will.
