I reckon the last time the son of a sovereign was taken into custody in Britain was the Duke of Monmouth in 1685.

When you’re a UK trans woman, you roll invisible dice every day before work. All sixes, and a coworker with billionaire money will take your employer to court over you, you will be on the news, and when you leave the country, men with abuse allegations against them will call it a victory for women.

William Blake’s illustration for β€œThe Tyger” has what appears to be a dippy grin for some reason.

William Blake’s illustration for β€œThe Tyger” has what appears to be a dippy grin for some reason.

The wonderful thing about Tyggers
Is Tyggers are burning bright
Their tops are made out of rubber
In the forest of the night

What bouncy, trouncy, flouncy, pouncy,
Immortal hand or eye
Did frame the most wonderful thing about Tyggers,
Their fearful symmetry!

Ratcliffe says 'sorry my choice of language has offended some people'

Ratcliffe has just issued the following statement:

"I am sorry that my choice of language has offended some people in the UK and Europe and caused concern but it is important to raise the issue of controlled and well-managed immigration that supports economic growth.

"My comments were made while answering questions about UK policy at the European Industry Summit in Antwerp, where I was discussing the importance of economic growth, jobs, skills and manufacturing in the UK.

"My intention was to stress that governments must manage migration alongside investment in skills, industry and jobs so that long-term prosperity is shared by everyone. It is critical that we maintain an open debate on the challenges facing the UK.

It's always the blinking billionaires, isn't it?

From the Popbitch newsletter:

Big Question <<
Who's asking what this week? Which social media - friendly star has been loudly claiming that they resigned from the BBC for noble reasons related to their political Views? In reality their
cancellation is less of a free speech issue and more of a
personality one; due to a massive falling out with the wife of their co-star along with a tendency to be horrible to female members of staff that had made them roundly disliked.

If this is about who I think it is: the context is that the person concerned is pro-trans and the wife of the co-star is a TERF. Quite an important detail. As to dealings with female staff, I know not, but the lack of candour in one detail makes me question Popbitch's overall accuracy.

One big piece of advice I would give everyone who can is to get a proper sound system. Even if you're only going to play streaming audio through it, the experience of hearing music filling the room is *infinitely* better than headphones, a laptop speaker or, God forbid, a phone speaker.

From the official White House account, not realising that penguins are Antarctica not the Arctic.

The White House also saying penguins and Trump have the same sized feet.

Two possibilities here.

1) this chemical activates random floating shapes in your vision but connects them to the person-recognition pathway, so you identify them as tiny people

2) this switched off the bit of the brain that stops us from seeing Them
