I need hope and inspiration right now anywhere I can get it. Today, I got both when I rediscovered this gem.

I don't like her. I abhor him. But I am begging people to stop using his addiction against him. There are plenty of other things about him to criticize and even mock. Addiction is a disease. I'm sober and while not a heroin user, the stigma is there and this doesn't help.

Many of Trump's supporters don't know about the things he's doing - the media they consume does not cover it. My super MAGA father rarely has awareness about stuff I bring up to him. We are up against a propaganda machine. I'm not suggesting Ds stop going on CNN, but we need them on Fox, too.

This story is INSANE and well worth reading. One of my favorite parts (and there are many) is that the DOJ spokesperson incorrectly spells "Lindsey" in her statement. As a journalism major, the whole thing is hilarious but for some reason, that aspect is the icing on the cake for me.

Addiction does not make someone a bad person. It's not a personality trait.

I have to object to leading with “heroin addict” and having listed at all. I’m sober. Have many sober friends, including heroin addicts. It shouldn’t be on a list of weird or objectionable qualities. It’s an illness. There are SO many legit things about him to attack. This isn’t one.

I’m in Pittsburgh. This is the only one I’ve seen so far. Which is unusual but I’ll take it!

I don’t understand the constant discourse on mass shooters’ politics. What difference does it make? Is shouting that into the void going to prevent more? Does anyone think those who believe Trump’s lies will listen to statistics proving him wrong? Can we stop blaming and start solving?

PA resident here - there are so many commercials airing on this that I've already heard a few people complaining about seeing them so often.

I live in a big city and we absolutely do it here. It might not be the definitive meeting the person wants. Like I’d say I’m going to X place so you can meet me there. Not sure they’d go to a random one since newbies can be no shows.

I hope it’s a good experience for you. If not, I suggest not giving up on it and trying a different meeting, finding another “buddy,” etc. I know that’s a tall order but the program can be a tremendous help. It’s not for everybody but you don’t know until you give it an honest shot.

Yeah I’d try today. They could have weekend hours, or have someone checking messages. And I can tell you that if it’s like mine, the person who contacts and meets you will be happy to do so and volunteered to be on a list the office has for these situations.

I don’t know if this would increase or decrease your anxiety, but an option is to call your city’s central office and tell them you want to attend your first meeting but need help doing so. Someone will pick you up (or meet you there if that’s preferred) so that you don’t have to do it alone.

What I told my Star Wars obsessed husband - we need to make sacrifices and be uncomfortable in this very dangerous time to be able to do some of the only things we can to take a stand and stop what’s happening in our country. This is one of those things.

I was paying for my husband’s slushee at sheetz and a sign on the register warned that tariffs are prompting a 26% increase on Hershey candy bars beginning on 9/15. Obviously candy bars aren’t a necessity but what about that hike on things that are? I know I can’t afford that and I’m middle class.

I believe I read her first book. The whole plot mirrored the JonBenet Ramsey murder.

I try to be a good ally for any community but this one is close to my heart because my nephew is so special to me. He says being autistic is his superpower and I don’t want to be someone to make him feel otherwise. Sadly there are enough people already doing that.

Ugh. I’m sorry that happens. My 11 yo nephew has autism so I try to learn what I can about it. And the only thing I hate about it is any negative response from jerks. He’s a sensitive soul and it hurts to see him hurt.
