I think that crisis is primarily driven by the media. In the fullness of time markets provide stability in unstable times. As long as governments don’t interfere to a level that forces instability.

Strange why Australia’s delinquency rates are half of US rates given the burden posed by the debt servicing obligations. Can only assume Aussie lending requirements are more stringent than US.
Reality is also that a lot of Aussie’s now have had a big lift in their net worth from house asset values.
