Commenting is your opportunity to make your voice heard and fight against this dangerous policy before it harms millions of Americans. Comments helped fight previous policies and can do so again: For example, Health and Human Services proposed reducing certain Medicare reimbursements for health care providers. Commenters pointed out errors with the studies cited by HHS. A court struck down the HHS rule because of the issues pointed out by comments. 3. What the policy does Removes civil-service protections from a new category of federal employees called Schedule Policy/Career. P/C employees become at-will workers. They lose their right to challenge terminations or appeal reclassification to the Merit Systems Protection Board. Allows agencies to identify and recommend "policy-influencing" roles into Schedule P/C. Gives the President sole authority to reclassify federal employees as P/C and removes their ability to challenge reclassification. Why it matters. Makes mass firings between administrations more likely, which weakens government expertise and efficiency. Politicizing government functions weakens continuity and the delivery of public services. The policy will remove safeguards for those refusing to break the law in favor of partisan outcomes.

If you've ever had a name change for any reason, PLEASE make sure you have documentation of all name changes- even if you changed your name back. Get a pocket folder and fireproof safe or pouch for everything. Keep it all organized and accessible.

If the utilities are entirely in your partner's name, consider switching at least one into your own name, or see if both names can be on the account. At age 16, minors need a state issued photo ID. They should also receive a student ID at school. Non-citizen documentation, too.

You need your birth certificate, state issued photo ID (like a driver's license) or military ID, your marriage license, divorce decree, and social security card. If you have kids, get their documents in order, as well. Your rental agreement, mortgage paperwork, recent utility bills in your name....

Please do get all your documents together, and if you can figure out a way to afford it, please do get a passport. Just in case. Maybe you won't need it- but better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

I applied at my local post office this morning, and they did not return my birth certificate. The clerk explained that it is required to mail the original. The website did state this as well, but I thought I HAD to be misunderstanding/reading it wrong.
