β€œDespite [Minister Loewen’s] claims that the program is effective, grizzly bear populations are increasing and densities are growing and conflicts are increasing, Elmeligi said that there is β€œabsolutely no data supporting any of that.”

How very Canadian to lose the trophy but somehow earn all of the respect. I can't think of anything more sturdily Canadian than coming in second place but knowing that you won something bigger.

If we want better, we have to elect a better government.
YouTube video by Naheed Nenshi If we want better, we have to elect a better government.

Albertans deserve better than an undemocratic, authoritarian government with an absent Premier.

NDP leader Naheed Nenshi pulled few punches today…

Not only did he condemn Smith’s claim Peter Lougheed would support her attack on human rights…

He called her and the entire UCP caucus cowards.

Danielle Smith is using the notwithstanding clause to protect herself while crushing individuals' Charter rights.

That’s not freedom, that’s cowardice.

And Albertans won’t stand for it.

The only way to book COVID vaccines for young children in Alberta is by calling 811 / HealthLink.

Bookings opened Monday.

It’s now Friday and the system is still saying call volumes are too high and auto-hanging-up on callers. πŸ™ƒ

(They also cost $100 a pop, if you can ever get through.)

Carney: "We can't control the trade policy of the US. We recognize it has fundamentally changed from the policy in the 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, & it's a situation where US has tariffs against every trading partner... what we we can control is developing new partnerships, including w/econ giants of Asia"

Vaccines today. FLU and COVID. So very thankful.

ABMedicalAssoc today
"IF only 5% of people who should be vaccinated are deterred by costs, booking difficulty, etc
AND considering COVID at a 15% infection rate
THEN the addition hospital costs alone will exceed $65 million.

Looking a bit tired and with sniffles, here’s an update on the #ForeverCanadian Unity Bus tour and on our signature count.

It’s looking really good, but we need to push it across the finish line. Keep in mind that some signatures may get rejected.

Thank you volunteers!

The UCP quietly released the 3rd party report into CorruptCare on Friday afternoon, hoping it would get buried in news around the ATA strike and municipal elections.

Here's a reminder: Judge Wyant was given very narrow scope. The scandal involves wider political interference beyond policies.

Thinking this morning about how Pollievre lost an election, took time off to reflect on that loss, then made the choice to come back and just parrot Trump's devisive
rhetoric. DEI. Mass Deportations. Birthright citizenship. Criminal charges against
political rivals. It's all terrifying and we are underreacting to it.

It was all her idea.

How do we know?

Tens of thousands of teachers converging downtown just outside where Danielle Smith is addressing an audience.

I’ve never seen anything like this.

Time to listen up, Premier.

Time for a fair deal.

Childcare is not the responsibility of teachers. Teachers’ jobs are to teach. The real problem is that governments offload every underfunded social service onto schoolsβ€”expecting them to cover the gaps instead of actually investing in families and children. Don't blame teachers. Blame the government.
