25.10.2024 22:56 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Additionally, as a college student, most of the things I eat need to be both cheap and easy to cook on busy nights. So these are all things I keep in mind!
Feel free to share your own recipes & safe foods in the comments : ) and maybe I'll post a follow up thread later!
2/2
On a personal note, when I started restricting, I felt so disconnected from my culture. Cooking and eating my cultural foods is a big way I connect with it! And most of the recipes out there are very western / white oriented.

8. ๐ตTEA!! - I just love tea so much. I really like filling up on yummy drinks, and I love all sorts of Chinese teas, matcha, or anything! Green tea is also known to reduce appetite and help with weight loss. Drink it after a meal!
My favs are : pu'erh, jasmine green, and chrysanthemum tea!
7. hot pot (huo guo, shabu shabu, etc.) - doing hotpot at home can feel so fancy, but it's also healthy too! you can load up on veggies, lean meats, tofu, mushrooms, and noodles (my top picks are glass noodles and shirataki)
With no oil required and any broth of your choice, you can go wild!!!
6. ๐ฅ๐ถ๏ธSPICY FOOD!! - this can be pretty much anything, but my most used things include Chinese dried chilis (i use them in stir frys, they have a long shelf life) and all manners of chili crisps, sauces, and pastes. i put it on EVERYTHING.
so flavorful, & spicy food reduces appetite!
5. ๐ฅฌVarious asian greens - There's sooo many yummy ones. I really like jie lan (chinese kale), napa cabbage, lotus root, and recently I've tried japanese sweet potatoes! so yummy and filling.

You can eat them plain, with rice, or cooked into various dishes! It keeps a long time and is soo versatile. ๐ and so low cal!
3. ๐rice porridge (congee, juk, etc.) - Same idea as the steamed egg, very filling, easy to make, cheap, and you can stretch it with water!
it's also very mild, but can be dressed up with any toppings you like. so it's good for when you're feeling sick or adventurous!
2. Steamed egg - lots of cultures have their own version of this one- it's super filling and warm, but you can really stretch the egg with water or chicken broth! You can also add ground meat for protein. You can even make it in the microwave!
25.10.2024 22:30 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 01. ๐ฅ Cucumbers! I love to make cold cucumber salad (w/ soy sauce, black vinegar, chili crisp, and sesame oil), kappa maki, or just dip it in sriracha. Did you know you can stir fry them too?
Plus they're cheap YEAH!!! I always get the english/seedless kind.
