Generative AI by definition is conformity. It is an averaging of anything you ask of it - quite literally guessing what the most likely version of a thing might be. It is, by definition, mainstream, as is everything it creates old and deeply ideological, as every model trains on similar data.

I'm younger and I grew up very close to where she is. These terms were *rife* in the late 80s/early 90s. But that was over 30 years ago! I can't remember the last time I heard these words outside of bigots and racists. There is no way that anyone in 2025 doesn't know that it's wrong! At all!

One of the best things I ever did for my writing was use an editor who *wasn't* a native English speaker. Because they'd learned English grammar in a much more structured way and could pick this stuff apart easily!

Love this! It's definitely come up in my present-tense work. I've had a copy editor insert "had"s into my flashbacks until I second-guessed myself and stopped stetting; I've had a copy editor ask whether a verb in past was a slip where it wasn't, and I've had copy editors catch me in actual slips.
