A vast library with light streaming in from many floors up, occupied by a raven, a cat and the shadow of a dog. There are ornate lamps because...i drew it and I have a thing about lamps. Pencil on Bristol board. Colour applied.

A colourful collage with a central image of a 1960s young thin white woman with big bouffant blonde curls and her face coloured in like an Andy Warhol screen print surrounded by stars with a cut out of a half peeled banana and a pink and white blob reading perfume of magnetism, above her old wallpaper with leaves covered in organic shapes that suggest bowels

Spotted on socials so...exciting news, Dark Crescent is going International! I'm so delighted that there will be a Ukrainian translation with Yakaboo Publishing, out later this year (and what great company to be in!) This is such a cool author first! ✨️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇺🇦 yakaboo.ua @lunapress.bsky.social

oh the first draft is always terrible - but it’s a great psychological trick to see the pages piling up next to me so I can actually feel like I’m progressing instead of it all being on a computer document 😂

spending an hour on the phone to various NHS departments trying to track down a lost set of blood test results wasn’t how i intended to spend my morning, but finally managed to speak to a nice neurology secretary who thinks she can send them to my GP. all praise to her, may her pillow always be cool

no idea how others do it but my 1st draft is a hard copy on a typewriter, draft 1.5 is that typed onto scrivener & nominally edited as I go, then the 2nd draft I’m on rn is that same document rewritten page by page BUT if I delete huge sections I have a notes folder I paste them into just in case!

This one came out before the election and…you know. Anyway, it got some amazing nods—Stoker, Locus, glowing NYT review, NPR—but never took off. Seeing it getting love this week for being 100% boricua? Yeah…agradecido. Oh, and it’s on sale! Mil gracias. Much love.

it’s been a while since i’ve had to argue with the NHS but my GP ordering an ultrasound & the hospital cancelling it because they want me to wait 4 months to see the surgeons even tho there’s nothing visible & they’ll just order an ultrasound is now my 2026 villain origin story

Pencil drawing with applied colour. A citadel city built of many layers and stories is mostly covered with vines and flowers. Only the topmost part of the city is revealed and it shines blue-green. Flower-vines are in the foreground, and a small figure beholds the city.
