Survey at school about AI.
What is your biggest hope for genAI? “That the bubble will pop soon and it will go away.”
What do you as a teacher want to learn about it? “How to get students to trust their own ideas, take risks in their thinking, and resist the urge to use it.”

We view hoarding as a mental disorder except in the one very specific case of money, and it’s killing the planet

no need for further discourse: you're working class if you have a bedtime

“People who work for a living are not actually working class” is just an aggressively dumb take.

I've been trying to really gently move folks I know into understanding that we will not be going back to Before™. The amount of fundamental damage that has been done to our institutions can't simply be spackled up and painted over—the cracks are in the foundation and must be repaired.

To everyone dealing with grief, I want to say I applaud you. It's the most painful thing I've ever had to do, as I'm sure it is for you. To all of you still getting up in the morning and moving forward despite your grief, I wish you strength, peace, friendship, love, and all the joy you can find.

I talk to Steve every day. I just said hi to his picture on my bulletin board. I miss him more than I knew it would ever be possible to miss someone.
Chatting with a deep fake video of him spewing out phrases collected from his writing is not going to help me get through this. I have to accept it.

Hate to break it to you, but everyone dies. Everyone you love. Everyone you've ever met. Everyone you've never met. You. All gonna die.
Losing someone sucks. A lot.
The only solution is to come to grips with the fact they're gone, and go on living. Please do not try to rebuild them. It won't work.

i spent a literal decade being told that i was overreacting and that no way no how Roe was going to be overturned.
I'm getting the same reaction when I tell people that Obergefell v. Hodges (same sex marriage case) will be overturned sooner rather than later.

if only it had been possible for news orgs to do something other than take his bullshit at face value during the campaign

Waiting to get into Wolfgang Puck’s restaurant in LA, the crowd sees Puck walk in with a guest. Someone shouts “Hey Wolfgang! Who do you have to know to get a table in there?”
Puck replies, “You only have to know yourself.”

I feel like the reason why far right propaganda is so effective and pervasive is because instead of offering solutions they offer excuses.
It always boils down to "All of your problems are because of someone else" which is like oldest and most basic grift around.
