This is 100% not true! I saw the movie before I read the book and still loved it, and now that I have read the book, I still don't think reading it beforehand would've changed my experience of the movie much.

"Minnesota Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve noted to reporters that the sexualization of women has 'been going on for centuries,' and the same can be said for claiming it’s all in good fun."

IRS, White House clashed over immigrants’ data before tax chief was ousted The Trump administration’s move to push out IRS Commissioner Billy Long came after the agency said it couldn’t release some information on taxpayers suspected of being here illegally.

🚨 WaPo EXCLUSIVE

Hours before Trump removed Billy Long as IRS commissioner, his agency clashed with the White House over sharing immigrants’ tax data.

And you know what? When I take a deep breath and try to step back and look at it, I think I'm still doing good work.

A lifetime of perfectionism and impostor syndrome doesn't go away in nine months. But I've been working on it since November. I still have those feelings all the time, but I challenge them now instead of leaning into them. I remind myself that living by those feelings led to a medical crisis.

Nobody told me I had to be three people. Nobody would have actually begrudged me a sick day. But I felt like I had to be, and I internalized from that terrible early advice that this feeling was not a problem to address but actually fine and good. It's bad!

You know what that leads to? Shit like breaking your hand and assuring your editor in a panic that you can still work and sitting at your table trying to write a breaking-news article via dictation software but it can't understand you because you're so overwhelmed you're sobbing. True story! 6/🧡

It's actually not a superpower to constantly feel inadequate! It's actually not beneficial to only feel secure when you're doing so much that your editor jokingly asks if you're secretly three people, and to live in terror of failing the standard of being three people! 5/ 🧡

I'm ashamed to say it took me until my medical leave last fall β€” which came after I shoved both physical and mental health aside for years and pushed through when I shouldn't have β€” to realize this advice I loved so much was actually horrible. 4/ 🧡

I loved it so much I shared it with other new employees over the years, which I feel gross about now. It felt validating and comforting to be like, I know I feel like an impostor, but maybe I'm not actually one because everyone here feels that way, and hey, it helps me do my best work! 3/ 🧡

Most of us uncomfortably raised our hands, and then he said he'd been at NYT for decades and was a top editor and still felt that way. He said it was our superpower because our fear of being discovered as inadequate pushed us to do our best work.

At the time and for years after, I LOVED this. 2/ 🧡

During my orientation week at NYT 13 years ago, a high-ranking editor met with me and other new employees and asked us to raise our hands if we had impostor syndrome. (He didn't use that term β€” he asked if we worried every day that someone would figure out we didn't know what we were doing) 1/ 🧡

Would like to state for the record that I wish to delete this post and redo it pretending I didn't miss that LBJ and Biden are also missing, but at least I've never claimed my 10pm posts contain PhD-level expertise

Yeah, I was just thinking it cut things off after Trump 1, but of course it lists two terms for Trump, so yes, Biden missing too

LBJ missing too, as a smart commenter who has disabled quote posts points out

I'm sure the AI boosters are responding "you're trying to trick it, normal users will just ask for the information, not for a diagram," but has anyone noticed that it skips George HW Bush

(To be clear, by "holy grail" I don't mean it's impossible β€” just that it's an incredibly difficult scientific challenge that would be an earthshaking breakthrough if it were developed)

Oh, I see. That's a different thing. A combo flu/covid vaccine isn't a universal flu/covid vaccine. It would just mean getting one shot instead of two. A "universal" vaccine would be one that covered all current and future variants, and that's a holy grail that was never promised by next fall.

They pulled $500 million in funding for mRNA vaccine research, which is separate from the research the press release refers to on the decades-old, non-mRNA technology.

To be clear, coronaviruses and flu are not in any way, shape or form an "entire phylum" of viruses.
