Suzanne Simon of @raestuaries.bsky.social joined us as we monitored our 2022-2023 oyster shell reef in Pointe au Chien. We also visited the Trenasse Closure, an expansion of the reef that uses hay bales to slow wave energy. Thanks @raestuaries.bsky.social & the EPA for supporting these projects!

Day 19 - The Great Lakes Restoration Community Grant Program is here to make waves! We aim to help community-based orgs build capacity, get technical support, and unlock federal funding. #30DaysofRAE

Day 18-The Long Island Sound Community Impact Fund provides financial support to communities in the region. LISCIF helps make projects like oyster restoration, environmental education, and maintenance of an edible food forest possible. #30DaysofRAE

The ESTUARIES Act passes out of the House T&I Committee with a vote of 57-2. This legislation will authorize the National Estuary Program through 2031, protecting one of the few federal estuary-focused programs from future cuts.

Day 17-Together with GBF, @crcl1988.bsky.social, @alabamacoastal.bsky.social, and Tampa Bay Watch, we make the Gulf Regional Oyster Network. Restaurants put their shells to use by enrolling in our partner programs that reuse old shells to create oyster reefs! #30DaysofRAE

Day 16 - Southeast New England has always relied on healthy estuaries for food, transportation, and recreation. Today, RI and MA still depend on these vital waterways, which is why RAE, in partnership with the EPA, proudly works with communities to restore them through the SNEP Program. #30DaysofRAE

Day 15 - In 28 National Estuary Program areas, RAE administers the Watershed and Coastal Watershed Grants to support projects addressing threats to estuaries. From water quality monitoring to oyster reef installations, all are led by the communities that know their waters the best #30DaysofRAE

Over the past decade, the program has supported dozens of events that mobilized more than 25,000 volunteers to clean hundreds of miles of shoreline, remove over 350,000 pounds of litter and debris, plant thousands of trees and grasses, and restore more than 250 acres of vital coastal habitat.

Day 14-2025 marks the 10th anniversary of the partnership between RAE and CITGO through the Caring for our Coast program. We have worked to bring about measurable on-the-ground results along the Gulf Coast and to build support for environmental protection throughout the region.

Day 13 - RAE is proud to partner with The Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation to advance our mutual goals of protecting water and engaging the public. Through the National Water Stewardship Partnership, RAE developed projects that engage students, volunteers, and community members throughout the country.

Day 12-RAE continues to facilitate Congressional action to advance the science of natural infrastructure into meaningful legislation that better protects coastal communities. By working with bipartisan members from the House and Senate, we are ensuring that estuaries remain a priority

Day 11 - Estuaries are economic engines that support coastal communities and provide resources, transportation, and recreation nationwide. To keep stakeholders informed through facts and figures, RAE created our Jobs and Dollars Report and Economics of Estuaries Report.
