That book is Steve Bannon’s inspiration, a fascist novel. Just openly laughing at everyone they hate

It’s one thing to lose to Australia - they’re the best in the world. But quite another to get humiliated. It’s not β€˜naivety’, more like hubris. Wonder where that individualistic entitlement comes from? πŸ€”

Global football is run by horrible people who must hate football. Why else would they make such a mess of it?

Returning from London. Packed, Xmas socials everywhere, so not going to claim this is the metropolis at its finest, but pfft. Loads of people having fun. If it is an existential warzone between western civilization and barbarianism, I must have missed it.

Yes, this is really good. A piece outlining an increasingly universal trend in elite football - clubs actively antagonising the most loyal members of their supporter base and not being subtle about it in the slightest.

They’re killing people as a twitter joke. It’s depraved. Can’t let yourself lose the capacity to be appalled and disgusted and outraged by this.

is taken out on management and fans to a great degree because they are in the visible firing line and so bear the brunt. Not just a Spurs thing either, hearing very similar conversations with fans of all stripes.

Good question. It's partly why @spursblogger.bsky.social piece was so on the money. When fans are treated so poorly, messed around, exploited and taken for granted it has a direct impact on how they respond to results and performances. Patience wears thin and anger with the club/game more generally>

about so many fundamental things: immigration, the economy, the NHS, Brexit, austerity, culture, class. Politicians don't deal with any of them honestly; they are all too rarely reported with honesty. It's a nation with a wilful, collective brain fog.

FWIW I'm not exactly a Polanski fan (not a 'fan' of any politician, tbh) but this is a very rare example of actually telling it like it is. This is the actual 'real world', not the made-up one people bang on about because they saw it in Fashbook. British politics is fundamentally dishonest>>>

Every Aussie batsmen has got their eye in and into double figures. You don't need individual mahoosive scorers. It's a team game. English individualism and exceptionalism writ large.
