Sure, white-eyed vireos are known for their eyes, but they also have fantastic personalities.

A digital illustration of a female and a male Hawaii 'Akepa perching on a plant against a blue background. The birds and the plants are covered in textures and are angular in shapes. The female, which is green, perches on top of the plant, and the male, bright orange in colour, is slightly lower.

The most Pokemon-like shorebird? Easily the killdeer, which is content to repeatedly shout its own name, no matter the occasion.

Thank you for your kind words. The reach definitely helps with birds, though some will let you get close.
I shot this photo at ~300mm.

A least bittern posing while preening itself. It's rare to see these swamp chickens, which usually skulk in the reeds and scare easily, but this one was happy to be out, albeit somewhat hidden in the tree's canopy.
