As a @storyblok.com Ambassador I know I need to say nice things about them, but the love might be very real. I can’t write the ‘story’ without my fingers automatically adding blok to the end.

A CMS shouldn’t make me feel this way. 😅

If you’re using SVG clip-paths for masking with CSS then this tool is a wonder! It’ll convert a path to decimal units meaning it can be used responsively (and responsibly) with clipPathUnits="objectBoundingBox" on the <clipPath> tag.

Want to save your SVGs in @storyblok.com’s asset manager but still want to be able to inline or manipulate them. Using my @laravel.com package, create a Field class and use file_get_contents() to load the content. Now you can style with CSS, animate, or whatever you wish!

Did you know you can check which components a blocks fieldtype contains in Laravel Storyblok?

Here I have a page, I get the ‘block()’ for the content type, then check if the ‘blocks’ field contains a ‘form’ component as a child.

I’ve released version 2.46.0 of my @laravel.com package for @storyblok.com. It’s a small release but with some useful methods to get asset metadata such as alt text, titles and copyright!

I’ve had a pretty consistent working practice when building websites for a few years now. I like how work. Except for forms. I’m never happy with forms and keep reinventing how I do them. Latest project is moving them all back into VueJS.

I’ve been updating a legacy Laravel 8 application to Laravel 12. Currently it’s going very smoothly which is a testament to Laravel and also to the benefit of using a headless CMS like @storyblok.com which means I’m barely using any database in the project.

Let's disable copy and paste of AI content until you've completed a short quiz showing you've read and understood it. Let's gamify the learning like so many educational apps do.

I missed this the other day, but my open-source @laravel.com package for @storyblok.com crossed 50,000 downloads. It’s amazing to think the package I created is being used by teams around the world to bring their websites to life!

Because every tutorial, every demo, every codepen is just <div> after <div>, even from a lot of respected developers. Semantics sadly gets forgotten and anyone learning HTML simply isn't getting the exposure they should.

The best thing about Dreamweaver was it came with Allaire HomeSite. Loved it so much, although I got my first copy when my dad returned home from a business trip with the box. I've been building websites every since.

One of the issues here is communicating the importance of the invisible. Most people who no understanding of HTML and no vested interest. They just see a pretty website. How do we get all stakeholders to appreciate the bigger picture. This is a problem in so much of development

I didn’t realise the <strong> and <em> tags can be nested to increase the relative strength of their meaning! I can’t think of any system that allows me to set this. Most don’t even care for the difference in <strong> and <em>, and <b> and <i>.

Animating the #SVG dash-arrays can give that shaky-line effect (that I hate!) which some cartoons use. Not the best video example as it’s scaled up here, but create an array with lots of random lengths then juggle of offset in #CSS.

I got a message on Discord today asking to add to support for the .jfif extension to my @storyblok.com package for #Laravel. It’s now supported in 2.42.0. You can also now configure the extensions too.
