It's more than a little exhausting.

Ever since my 2nd layoff back in 2016, I've felt like I am constantly looking at what's out there. I don't apply to any / many, but the volatility makes job hunting a constant.

I spent seven years writing a book on this and she just… said it in three succinct paragraphs to politico.

It's a trilogy with a different pace. Fewer one liners and more character development. Less spectacle and more mystery. And in many ways, less super and more human.

Deadpool and Wolverine proved that they have the character count to make it work, and maybe the new takes on characters could convince some of the actors to return to the roles. But more importantly, it would give the MCU some time to breathe.

What is really like to see though? The Earth X trilogy as a movie trilogy. Bring back the actors with a new take on familiar characters. Don't tie it to the MCU beyond the characters and actors. Keep as much of the plot secret as possible. Instead, build on nostalgia, novelty, and curiosity.

Speed running The Coming of Galactus left little room for the character dynamics between the 4 central characters to really shine though. Again, they made the most of every opportunity they got, but the story's pace left far too few of those opportunities

It's weird looking back on Phase 1 of the MCU where the highest stakes were "the Nazis get alien tech". Which is bad, but only just outside of familiar. Instead they felt like very character focused stories. Everyone understood who Tony Stark was, even if they didn't like Iron Man 2.

I feel like Fantastic 4 is a flawed movie. It wasn't bad, but the core story was too grand to allow for much true character development. The actors were great and the writers really nailed the few character moments allowed, but the pacing felt five steps slower than Rise of the Skywalker

One company dominating distribution of an artform is always bad for artists. Buy from their Bandcamps, buy physical media, do anything to support artists over publicly traded companies who only view art as a means to extract wealth.

Dug a lot of what they did with Superman. Great casting, solid story, surprisingly human version of supes. And as much as I can't stand the character, Guy Gardner was probably the right choice of Green Lantern.

Well, I was just hit with the unfortunate news that my time at Bethesda has come to an end. I’m endlessly grateful for the opportunity to work on such incredible titles with such talented individuals. ❤️
