It's a sad state of affairs that this is the first year where my wife, a military brat whose father was a Colonel, and myself, former foreign correspondent, have felt emotionally uncomfortable attending a Remembrance Day service. Yes, it does make you wonder. I know a few older folks in UK who voted Brexit & they say it was 'for their sovereignty' & 'to protect their borders ' but they can't enlarge on that. I keep my distance nowadays. Dad & grandad were very pro unity.......

I honestly don't believe that either my dad (WW2) or my grandfather (WW1) would have wanted Brexit. I think they would have been gobsmacked. I also believe they would have wondered what they'd fought for if they saw how broken UK has become.
