Thanks Alan. The crazy thing about this picture was that I took it on our usual morning walk, and we were 1.5 miles up a trail and 500+ ft elevation from the water below. And the Osprey circled there for a while before climbing even higher up. I guess the fish never got to tell the tale though...

An Osrprey, a bird of prey that preys on fish - and this one is carrying one that it has just caught in the Bay off San Rafael. Against a blue sky, the sea eagle is mainly brown and white, with a yellow eye. Lighter under the wings next to the body, and a darker patch where the longer wing feathers branch out from.

#BirdoftheDay and the theme is #favourite. I'm sure I'd choose a different favourite each day - but today I'll go for the Osprey. #Birds 🪶

My entry today for Bird of the Day, and needing 3 or more colours I chose the Green Heron, showing yellows on eye and towards long bill greens on the tips of feathers on the inner wings and upper back, russet around the neck and chest and shades of blue on the cap and wings - as well as lighter coulours at the edges of feathers. There is even some cyan on the longer wing feathers. The bird is next to water with wings a little open, just hanging them out a little, maybe to cool off?
