You are correct, he doesn't have very many fans among progressive. However, two things can be true at the same time. I don't like his politics and would like someone more progressive in office but I like and appreciate his trolling.

Very few even really care about their congressional paychecks. It's less than pocket change to them. Stopping their payments would be symbolic at best and at worst harm the few that aren't independently wealthy and have taken a stand against getting rich through corruption.
