Dear @nytimes,

It is entirely possible to write a story about education without seeking comment from Chris Rufo.

Sincerely,

An actual educator

The Pentagon’s Preferred Propaganda Model The Trump administration is trying to muddle realityβ€”and create apathy. Β

Longtime Pentagon reporters refused to accept new restrictions on their work. The news outlets that have arrived to replace them may not tell the truth, @anneapplebaum.bsky.social argues. β€œMore important, they will produce confusion.”

Imagine building an entire adult personality around "I finished fifth in a college swimming championship three years ago and I'm still furious I didn't get to be fourth. Therefore, a congresswoman must debate me."

It's just a turducken of loser shit.

πŸ“£THREAD: It’s surprising to me that so many people were surprised to learn that Signal runs partly on AWS (something we can do because we use encryption to make sure no one but you–not AWS, not Signal, not anyone–can access your comms).

It’s also concerning. 1/

Why isn’t it a crime to refuse to pay people enough to live?

If you’re villainizing people for earning low wages, and you ignore the CEOs who created this environment, may you some day come to know: hell is hot.

Marc Lobliner post on X: "Why the hell are we giving food stamps to 40 million people? Does anyone work anymore?"

SNAP isn't about "people who don't work." It's about people who don't get paid enough to live.

Of the 40 or so million people who rely on food stamps:

* Two-thirds are children, seniors, or disabled

* Most working-age adults who receive SNAP are employedβ€”but in jobs that pay poverty wages

The nightmare isn’t even what’s unfolding: the nightmare is the normalization, the expectation, that anyone can or should thrive in these moments.

Deep breaths.

usual, and some of our cities are under siege, people are being disappeared from the streets, and we’re supposed to concentrate and be productive, and all I know is that my heart isn’t built for this kind of dichotomy. There is no scenario where I am able to wellness my way out of this nightmare.

understand how we’ve arrived at this place where it seems reasonable that people should starve, or go without healthcare, or even affordable healthcare. I get that β€˜cruelty is the point’ rhetoric, but my brain can’t make sense of it. We’re moving through our days, going to meetings, business as,

this unfold. It’s a slow motion heartbreak. I saw a post somewhere about how, if we can, folks could buy groceries for a family this month to try and help avoid tragedy, and if as many of us as possible do this, it’s at least some help. I think we’ll be able to do that this month, but I just don’t,

It’s getting cold here in ME, and it is gutting to know that SNAP benefits won’t be available for folks in November. These upcoming winter months are expensive; heat is expensive, cars and tires that allow folks to drive in snow are expensive, everything is expensive! It’s maddening to watch,
