Ugh! Even when I was *very* young, I knew that Good & Plenty was sent by the Devil to trick good children and make them sufferβ¦

04.03.2025 01:05 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Amazon and Wal-Mart *intentionally* undercut small mom & pop stores and force them out of business so people have *no choice* but to shop with the giant corporations.
How is pointing that out βdefending [my] ignoranceβ?
And how does that then mean that I βlove Amazon soβ?
I did not make an argument about being poor. I asked a *question* about whether or not OP had experienced being poor in the US.
I fail to see how that makes me a stupid idiot.
βNonsensical apathy and complacencyββ¦?
So, you donβt think, perhaps, that corporations have set things up in such a way as to leave some people with basically no options apart from what they offer?
Genuine question: have you ever been poor in the US?
Uh...I'm pretty sure some people are also too old, or too disabled, or too poor, or too far away from stores/lacking transportation to do anything *but* order from Amazon...you know, frivolous stuff like food and meds...π

Day 11.
"Wuthering Heights" was my introduction to Kate Bush in the early 80s. There was a local SF tv station that had a music video show (*just* after Mtv started) and the video was in *heavy* rotation. I've loved her since. And WH is *still* one of my favorite songs/videos!!!

The cover is solid black, with a white band across the middle that says "Penguin Classics" in black print, with an image of a penguin between the words. Above the band is the author's name; below the band is the book's title; both are in white print.

The image is the cover of the album "Ma Fleur" by The Cinematic Opera. The picture shows the corner of a house hidden in shadow on the left side with several stalks of tall wheat and/or grass in the foreground and a lake or pond in the background. There is more wheat/grass on the right side of the image that is in sunlight.

Below the title are listed the names of the 11 tracks on the album.

Day 9 (in theory).
The image is the cover of the book "D'aulaires' Book of Greek Myths", written by Ingri D'aulaire and Edgar Parin D'aulaire. The cover shows the greek god Apollo dressed in white robes, standing in a reddish-gilden chariot that's being pulled across the sky by four white horses. They are flying above a what looks to be a forest of low trees and in front of the trees are four small figures: a yellow satyr, a blue satyr, an orange centaur and a woman in red robes holding a jug or vase.
The image is the cover of the book "D'aulaires' Book of Norse Myths", written by Ingri D'aulaire and Edgar Parin D'aulaire. The cover is just the image without a title, as all of the images I found had updated information and I could not find a cover from my childhood. The image is of the one-eyed, Norse god Odin, wearing a yellow, horned, helmet and a star-covered cloak, and brandishing a spear as he rides across the sky on the back of his eight-legged horse, Sleipner. His two ravens, Huginn and Muninn are flying a bit ahead of him. Beneath him are figures in a hazy, fog-filled battlefield.

You can't appeal to decency or empathy. They have none. They are not going to feel shame or remorse. If they can feel those things, it wouldn't be for strangers. Empathy isn't for anyone they perceive as beneath them. They don't see most people as humans like them. Stop expecting them to care.
