getting rejected from a dream job hurts… especially when they say they “aren’t moving forward with the position” and then repost it online

i think the students (middle schoolers) successfully coup’ed me today

something i have learned from substitute teaching is how much i love the investigative and creative side of science. today i was in class where students could build anything they wanted out of legos, magnetic tiles, etc… and it was so refreshing to see joy in exploration

I can't speak for anyone else,

But a thing that I am finding is really helping me to get through all this nonsense

is helping others.

It can be something small- sharing a job ad with a fired colleague, looking over a resume- or something larger.

But helping others helps me.

One nice thing about foraging compared to other hobbies is that no one spends $10,000 on stuff for it

listening to non-fiction audiobooks at 1.5x speed makes me feel like i’m back in zoom university

saw a sticky note by a first grader that just said “ur mom” today

maybe the kids are alright

sometimes when you’re crying you lock yourself in a stairwell… and that’s okay

a lot of being a substitute teacher is just physically being present and looking serious enough students do their work but they don’t know pink pony club is playing on loop in my head

viruses have no user interface

saying a virus is alive is like saying typing a bunch of code is microsoft word and calling it coding

it’s so wild trying to read scientific papers as a recently graduated person from an academic institute, i feel like a monkey looking through the glass at a zoo seeing all the papers i could read but can’t with academic credentials
