What gets measured… gets gamed

Performance targets in policing aren’t the issue—it’s about setting the right measures. Targets must align with outcomes like safety and trust, embed context (e.g., public confidence), and prevent gaming. Focus on purpose, transparency, and improvement to drive real change. #target #PoliceLeadership

This last point is often the issue missed also the change in how we can detect, evidence levels and tic/ prison clear ups are not as common at all. Detecteds was a ppi when I started but for us it meant poss cannabis s5 etc.

One large force doesn’t always get to right. Some of our largest forces have had the biggest issues and risks exist re shifted resources and lack of local agility and need. We can’t even get the radios sorted or single custody or crime systems. That’s where to start. Don’t quash innovation

Anyone else get freaked out when you know you’re the only person in your house. You’ve not moved for a while then suddenly for no reason your house just does a massive creak. Like an elephant is upstairs.
