My mother lives in a suburban-style home with large house and plentiful driveway. Some neighbors park blocking the sidewalk even with the empty driveway, just so someone can scoot around into the garage on that side.

Finally, as someone who spends a fair amount of time talking with reporters about current events, I have noticed that, as a group, reporters are getting less and less interested in whether this or that Administration action is legal. Law has limited value as predictor of what this Administration will do. And with the Supreme Court so frequently overriding lower courts’ injunctions against the Administration’s lawlessness in minimally reasoned Shadow Docket orders, even many of the brightest and most capable reporters seem to feel little need to sort through statutes and caselaw. I do not share their skepticism, but persuading them that law matters is getting more and more difficult. That by itself is a fundamental change in our constitutional order.

@davidasuper.bsky.social has an interesting piece up on Balkinization, at the end of which he makes the point that because the administration is breaking the law so much of late, journalists are starting to be less interested in even reporting what the law is—

Just had front seat row to multiple lightning strikes on trees in someone’s backyard. Very impressive display of power by Mother Nature.

I remember the saying that by the time the heads meet, most of the actual work had been done behind the scenes - the flashy meetings are just a formality. Trump people didn’t do the work beforehand.

This is really bugging me. The roads look pretty empty. I don’t know what’s going on outside the frame of the camera but if I was driving a road like the one apparently shown, no way I’d expect to see a thin barrier. Doesn’t excuse the driver but come on, there should’ve been more visible barriers.

TBH, I don’t think the barriers are that visible especially if in line of sight with the crosswalk paint. But… definitely should’ve seen the pedestrians. May not have been expecting pedestrians there given the light or if distracted by environment (ie other pedestrians, activity, etc.)
