it doesn't seem like too much to ask for at least a brief moratorium on "centrist" Dems knifing their own party members while Trump is attempting to pass the worst piece of legislation since the Fugitive Slave Act

03.07.2025 18:40 β π 578 π 176 π¬ 14 π 15βCongressβ didnβt pass this murder budget.
Republicans did it.
Republicans did it without a single Democratic vote in the House, without a single Democratic vote in the Senate.
Be precise and give, uh, credit where credit is due
I keep getting some combination of this post despite multiple explanations about it. So again:
Hospitals operationalize Medicaid finances far into the future. Budget cuts, layoffs, project cancellations, closures, etc. will begin -immediately.-
Jeffries: "As a result of the all-out Republican assault on healthcare, people will die. Tens of thousands, perhaps year after year, as a result of the Republican assault on the healthcare of the American people. I'm sad. I never thought that I'd be on the House floor saying this is a crime scene"

03.07.2025 19:30 β π 29502 π 6912 π¬ 413 π 224The GOP passed a budget that will eviscerate health care in rural areas. They delayed much of the impact for after the midterms, hoping the public will think any discussion of the impending collapse is hyperbolic.
Local reporters have a chance to do service journalism that'll make a splash too.
The fiscal conservatives in the GOP just added $4 trillion to the deficit to give the wealthiest people on earth a tax cut. The pro-family party just took healthcare away from 17 million Americans to give ICE a bigger budget than Brazilβs military. The single most inhumane bill ever passed.
03.07.2025 18:34 β π 8603 π 2950 π¬ 313 π 124This bill is an act of war by the billionaires and their white nationalist allies against the people of the United States.
It will take health care from millions of people to fund tax cut for billionaires, secret police to arrest the Presidentβs critics, and concentration camps.
Itβs fascism.
AOC is exactly right; we're going to see ICE used to fill concentration camps with immigrants and opponents of the regime.
It's going to happen on an industrial scale that's in line with examples we associate with the worst regimes of the 20th century.
It's happening here.
I donβt think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.
This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.
It is setting up to make whatβs happening now look like childβs play. And people are disappearing.
Sharp new response from Zohran Mamdani, hitting back at Trump's threats:
"His statements...attempt to send a message to every New Yorker who refuses to hide in the shadows: if you speak up, they will come for you. We will not accept this intimidation."
The more I think about this statement the more remarkable it is. Zohran Mamdani is basically saying: If you threaten immigrants with your secret police, you're threatening all of us. Very solidaristic. Dems can learn from this.

βWe often ask parents, βWould you rather have a dead son than a live daughter?ββ Johanna Olson-Kennedy of Childrenβs Hospital Los Angeles once explained to ABC News. Variations on the phrase crop up in innumerable media articles and public statements by influencers, activists, and LGBTQ groups. The same ideaβthat the choice is transition or deathβappeared in the arguments made by Elizabeth Prelogar, the Biden administrationβs solicitor general, before the Supreme Court last year. Tennesseeβs law prohibiting the use of puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones to treat minors with gender dysphoria would, she said, βincrease the risk of suicide.β But there is a huge problem with this emotive formulation: It isnβt true. When Justice Samuel Alito challenged the ACLU lawyer Chase Strangio on such claims during oral arguments, Strangio made a startling admission. He conceded that there is no evidence to support the idea that medical transition reduces adolescent suicide rates.
The "misinformation" in question here is that gender-affirming care reduces suicides among youth. It merely reduces depression, anxiety, self-harm and suicidal ideation.

Meanwhile, the people passing these laws constantly make false claims: 80% of kids detransition, teens are getting hormones for identifying as rocks, minors receive surgeries without their parentsβ consent. Laughable!
These are people that *you admit* are banning care that helps struggling kids.
