Cross-Trait Meta-Analysis Reveals a Genetic Link between Inflammation and Aging in Giant Cell Arteritis <p>Giant cell arteritis (GCA) is a complex inflammatory disease affecting individuals over 50 suggesting a strong link with aging-related immune and vascular changes. However, the precise mechanisms u...

Now out! 🎉 We asked: why is GCA an age-related disease?
Our approach: a cross-trait GWAS to explore shared genetic predisposition between GCA and markers of biological aging

Excited to share this one! 🧬⏳

Role of X chromosome and dosage-compensation mechanisms in complex trait genetics We show that the X chromosome, understudied in genome-wide association studies, contributes to complex traits in a manner shaped by dosage-compensation mechanisms. We find near-full X inactivation bal...

One thing still missing in many GWAS pipelines: chrX analysis... In this study from @ajhgnews.bsky.social, Mefford et al. explore X-GWAS across 48 UKBB traits and as expected, ~3% of trait heritability comes from chrX.
