On the one hand, the premise is sound. I’ve been saying that the failures of old guard Dem leadership was going to lead to the rise of a Trump of the left.

But the REAL example is Gavin Fucking Newsom. The sheer number of folks saying they only like him because he makes Trump mad is staggering.

Watching “In The Shadow of Two Gunmen, Pts 1 & 2” from The West Wing. Josh & Leo had the following exchange about the Democrats picking a candidate & some lines are just evergreen, y’know:

Josh: “I mean we’re dumb, but we’re not that dumb.”

Leo: “Nah, I think we’re exactly that dumb.”

They only want to have a reasonable conversation now that they’re realizing they can’t deliver on everything they promised their investors. They thought we’d fall in line because they told us to, even though they behaved abominably, and now they’re scrambling.

I swear to god, “Purity test” is just the liberal version of “DEI”. You’ve stripped of any actual meaning & now just use it to mean “anything that you say that I don’t like.” 🙄

I’m not paying much attention to the Super Bowl or the commercials this year, but that Crypto commercial was the second Backstreet Boys themed commercial I noticed. I didn’t realize they’d become retro cool again….

I’m so bummed I’ve never been able to see Green Day live. Last time they were here they were way out of my budget.

Ah…I think I have discovered the problem. The toddler sounding scream that seemed quieter? Next door. The older screamer who sometimes screams nonstop that I thought was special needs? Apparently he lives downstairs. Afraid there’s no curtains for that. LOL. And he’s ON ONE tonight.

Well, they didn’t stay quiet. 😆 The curtains are still helping a little bit, but loud folks are gonna be loud I guess. And shrieking children are going to shriek. It’s a Saturday night, so that’s gonna happen sometimes I suppose. 🤷‍♀️

I had anticipated reading some big books this year, but I hadn’t anticipated both the 1200 page unabridged Count of Monte Cristo (500 pages in) & the 800 page King Sorrow (about 50 pages in) coming off hold at the same time. I have a LOT of reading to do in the next couple weeks. 😆

Ooohhhhh….I think it IS working. Because I just heard the kid scream and it was much quieter. Like, I can deal with this quieter. (Watch me have to take this back later when it turns out he was just further away from the wall. 😆)

I don’t know if it’s working or if they’re just being quiet. They were quiet last night, so it could go either way. 😆

I’m glad for these last two quiet nights though because I was thinking I’d made a horrible mistake.

And so now, the age old question…do I throw out all the moving boxes I just bought or find a place to store them in case I move again in a few yrs? 🤔

I saved a bunch last time & ended up throwing them out after like 5 years because I never moved. I didn’t intend to stay as long as I did. We’ll see.

Yep. Everything’s electric except the heat. Well, the hot water might be gas but water is a shared utility, including the hot water, so each building has multiple huge hot water heaters in the basement. I haven’t run out of hot water, so it seems to work.

Ugh. This round has passed us by luckily. It’s supposed to be in the 50s & 60s here next week. I’ll send some your way.

If it even blunts it a little it will help. Plus the fabric is supposed to stop sounds from bouncing around the apartment so that even if they come through it will take the sharpness off them. Supposedly.

If it doesn’t work, I’ll just put them on my bedroom windows instead. 😆

I’m also doing a little experiment this week. I’ve hung long blackout curtains on the dining room wall that’s shared with the neighboring apartment (with the screaming child) & am hoping it will muffle the sounds a little bit. Blackout curtains are supposed to have some noise reduction so we’ll see.

My ankles have been puffy a lot the last week & wont seem to go down. It worried me a bit until I remembered how much frozen prepared food & takeout I’ve been eating lately with the move. I bet my sodium numbers are horrifying. 😆

I gotta finish the kitchen this weekend & get back to cooking.

The natural gas guy who set me up on moving day told me the gas been shut off to this apt since 2020. And I didn’t believe it because we’d had multiple polar vortexes in that time. But when we had the polar vortex the weekend before I moved, it never got below 63 degrees even with no gas at all.

Living in a third floor apartment means opening your windows in February because everyone’s heat travels upwards. 😆 My heater hasn’t kicked on in a week.
