Last weekend we were pleased to give students from Sheffield Hallam University hands-on experience of moorland restoration, sphagnum planting in the Goyt Valley. Luckily we were able to find a sheltered gully in which they could recharge their batteries and have lunch!

“The Conservation & Land Management team are the hands-on folks who restore the moors. We just can’t get enough #sphagnum moss planted, that’s the theme of the next 5 years!"
2/2 Primarily the A628 and M62 corridors, which run through the protected peatland landscape. Restoration work in these road corridors will have a significant positive impact on the habitat and the flood & fire risk currently posed in the area as a result of the degraded condition of the peatlands.
