44,000 Toronto Bikeshare trips in one day.
The system costs about $14-million net to run; a major expansion will be $20-million.
The proposed Highway 413 extension could cost 500 times that much to move 7x the number of people

OP-ED: Taking another look at who's using bike lanes - Spacing Toronto
Toronto’s bike lanes have always been about more than just cycling – they are about building a city that moves smarter, cleaner, and safer. As someone who currently rides a pedal-assist e-bike, both f...
@lanrickbennett.bsky.social In response to critics fixated on underused bike lanes in winter:
“Infrastructure isn’t judged by seasonal peaks but by the benefits it delivers.” Well said!
Highways aren’t judged by seasonal usage or even consistent underuse (e.g., Hwy 407), but bike lanes always are.

The police budget is absurdly disproportionate, but am I missing something, or does the way other expenses are represented on the graph also leave much to be desired? How does the $1.2 waste management expense have a wider bar than the $1.9 paramedic services expense?

Doug Ford plans to rip out bike lanes on busy streets, citing ‘insanity’ of gridlock he says they contribute to
#Ontario is front and center in @theguardian.com today!
And for all the wrong reasons. Doug Ford and his car-brained Conservatives are making headlines globally for tearing out #Toronto's bike lanes, and failing to build transit that would reduce congestion.

To kids, these 12-foot skeletons are the pinnacle of Halloween decorations; to adults, they’re a discreet way of flexing just how much storage space you have.

Ford government begins process to remove bike lanes in Toronto | Globalnews.ca
The government is focusing on Toronto's bike network, claiming the creation of designated lanes for cyclists is making traffic worse and clogging city streets.
The Province’s decision to remove bike lanes in Toronto to alleviate congestion is entirely misguided, akin to dismissing lifeguards to reduce pool crowding… 6 cyclists have already lost their lives in Toronto in 2024, and this move will only exacerbate the situation.
