It’s Not Your Fault That Academic Life is Getting Harder by Glen O’Hara
Universities are in trouble, and it’s not just money we’re talking about. They are living through something of a crisis of confidence, even of trust and faith. More and more, I find myself, and my col...

Graphic from the eurobarometer showing the percentage in relation to the sentence «The earliest humans lived at the same time as dinosaurs. 56% say its false, 26% say its true and 18% don´t know.
More Portuguese believe that the earliest humans lived among dinosaurs. Also, more people don't believe that we evolved from other animals. Red alert for the scicomm and prehistory community. There is a lot to be done. We are talking about basic knowledge of human and species evolution.

Almost five years ago, I made the life-changing resolution to overcome my addiction. While I honor this commitment daily, it often drains the energy I need for smaller but important resolutions. I still take them on, but it requires immense strength. Does this resonate with anybody?

A great place to work and spend time: public libraries. Warm and cozy on this never-ending January and with the most inspiring vibe. A place where we get free access to knowledge and literature, filled with nice people and dedicated librarians. Let's, as book lovers, promote them as much as we can.

Soundtracks: You'll Go Down in Prehistory

Just discovered this playlist, and I am really enjoying its company while trying to write.
PS. It's not about the accuracy of the movies, it's about soundtracks, a genre that I have been exploring lately and really getting a taste of it.

Picture showing the portgueses edition of the book. Title, author and ilustrations.
Finally read the brilliant book by @lemoustier.bsky.social Huge mistake doing it in PT. The translation is horror. Words that don't exist in archaeology, sentences one can barely understand... It underserves the scientific and literary quality of the book. Definitely re-reading it in the original.

I'm writing an archaeology book, but my researcher instincts take over. I keep diving into dozens of papers for chapters meant to be rigorous yet short and accessible. Striking the balance between academic precision and engaging storytelling is tough. Any tips for simplifying without losing depth?

Closed my Twitter, having trouble to sort out how to close Instagram, but I will do it. The thing is: no more inner contradiction. Therefore, I'll be around here more often and eager to find some of the persons I followed elsewhere and specially scicomm and archaeology people, also from Portugal.

The mission of my podcast is to raise awareness of prehistory and about those who research it.
It seems that mission is being fulfilled!
A huge thanks to all the listeners and to the researchers that engage in conversations with me.
