THE WATCHERS A.M. SHINE Dou can't see them. WORTH THE WATCH? SUGGESTED AUDIENCE: Fans of dark fantasy, Blair Witch, or Bird Box may see the potential in this one! THOUGHTS: This story had a promising foundation with its eerie atmosphere and the backdrop of folklore and Irish mythology. Unfortunately, the execution fell short for me. The plot twists were predictable, and the pacing felt sluggish, making it difficult to stay engaged. It might have worked better as a novella, where a tighter structure could have helped maintain momentum. As it stands, it just became forgettable despite its initial potential. RAVES: • Intriguing start • Foundation to an interesting premise ICKS: • Super slow pacing • Lack of suspense build-up • I felt like I could not connect to the characters TROPES: Forced-Proximity with Strangers; Survival; Isolation in the Woods

THOUGHTS: I really wanted to love this one. The premise had all the right ingredients: eerie folklore, gothic horror vibes, and a mysterious forest full of secrets. Unfortunately, the execution just didn't land for me. The writing felt flat, the pacing dragged, and I never connected with the characters or the world. What should ve been unsettling and enchanting ended up feeling hollow and repetitive. There were glimmers of something interesting beneath the surface, but for me, it never quite found its footing. RAVES: • Intriguing folklore foundation • Unique premise with potential ICKS: • Flat, detached writing style • Unlikable or underdeveloped characters • Pacing issues, slow without payoff TROPES: The Woods Are Watching; Isolated Survival

I felt myself never quite able to fall into the narrative, constantly distracted by plot holes. The twists were barely turns, and I saw them coming. Even the big "Ah-ha!" moment at the end was something I expected from the start. RAVES: • Creepy Creatures ICKS: • Overly Obvious "Twists" TROPES: Monsters in the Dark; Something Is Out There
