Halloween? Aren't things scary enough? Distractions help us cope, and life drawing is one of mine. Here is Gazelle again, and this was a 10 min., so a little more rendered out.

Struggles– Gazelle made it easy to enjoy the session… but I could never quite get her face. She had an athletic build, and her poses emphasized it; with challenging twists. This was one of her "basic" poses, but even here I felt pressed for time.

Rare privilege- As mentioned, the new model (Gazelle) was amazing, and she mentioned being booked 6 months in advance. It was a fluke she managed to pose for us, as she had a rare cancellation. I hope to have the pleasure again sometime soon.

More of the Queen– Her name was Gazelle, and she said it's pronounced like the animal. Hope she comes back. Again, super professional model, and a joy to draw. If only my efforts hadn't sucked so bad that night.

Late to the party– The model for the cosplay session was late, so the woman who runs it, stepped up and did the early poses. Kudos to her, she was able to hold this for 5 min. Crazy, but she did it; and with only one cramp midway thru!

Didn’t expect that, did ya? Tex Avery loved a strong "Take", and I always felt like older animation didn't worry as much about every line matching to a previous/following frame. The spastic hair on the cat makes this shot.

You gonna use that? Tex Avery didn't shy away from a little violence, so it's hard to justify the idea that cartoons are kids. There's practically an axe murder in "The Cat That Hated People". Great pose though.

You guys buy in bulk? Seems like most cartoon dogs tend to be bulldogs- don't know why, maybe its just the huge chest, but both Warner Bros and MGM used them frequently.

Pray for me The last pose from the first life drawing session this month was 15 min. I was tired at this point, and I never did get the placement of the supports on the stool correct. Meh. I gave up and decided to draw their eyes, since the rest of the face was covered with a mask the whole night; which is the image you see on the selection page.

You moonlighting? Preston Blair who animated "Red" from the classic Droopy cartoons, is not listed on the Tex Avery, MGM cartoon "Batty Baseball", but the ladies that appear in it, are obviously based on her.

Reach out, red out More from the life drawing earlier this month, and the muscles in their crossed leg looked weird to me, and I didn't know if I should draw what I saw, or something less distracting. I think because it was a short pose, I ended up falling between the two.

Que the blue Session at the beginning part of the month was crazy crowded. Was talking to someone, who asked what my focus was during these sessions. I replied "Accuracy and speed". Since I'm not on a hero book lately, and Beano is all cartooning, gotta keep up the naturalistic chops.
