There is a certain slant of light,
winter afternoons—
that annoys, like the blinds
of weird-assness—

A dumb thing about winter is that it’s so dark, but when we do have light, it comes in at this weird-ass angle so I have to close the blinds during meetings

I don’t mean to brag but I have the dumbest schedule of meetings today.
Like, the meetings are good, but the timing is wackadoo.

Screenshot of Peloton app.
This image shows a light purple background. Centered below a horizontal line of broken white/light purple dashes, there is a simple icon of a stylized person lying down. Above the upper body of the person, there is a stylized icon of concentric radio waves or Wi-Fi signal rings emanating outwards.
The overall appearance suggests a low-power or "dead" state, or possibly a "Do Not Disturb" or "Sleep" mode icon, perhaps related to a device or service that uses wireless technology.
This little fella that Peloton yoga classes use to indicate “savasana comin’” is actually me at any moment in any workout regardless of type.

Screen shot of the iOS App Store that reads:
Apple TV App of the Year
HBO Max
With a stacked lineup of movies and shows at the forefront of pop culture, HBO Max on Apple TV gathered family and friends to watch in the best way possible: with each other.
HBO max
HBO Max: Stream Movies

Watch Original Series & Films
There’s no way anyone at Apple has ever even opened this garbage fire of an app. It’s comfortably the worst of the main streaming services, at least on AppleTV.

My new seasonal obsession is that CT/Western MA are going to have another “cold enough to feel bitter, nowhere near cold enough to freeze the ticks” winter.

Granola offering me “Granola Crunched,” a Wrapped-style set of stats about my meetings, is surely some sort of low in this space.
(“You have 6.1x more meetings than the average user in the Academic/Research category” is not a flex.)

Every use-case people think they "need" and LLM for is actually papering over a different issue. The teacher using ChatGPT to write narrative reports bc the demand is unreasonable & overwhelming *actually* needs more support and/or compensation or a reduction of demand. It's a LABOR issue.

Or, talk to your students as they come back from internships about the different kinds of AI-related tasks they’re being asked to do.
Or read 10 further slides in the NACE deck where it says at least 40% of employers are on the path to augmenting entry-level jobs with AI.

I can’t put my finger on why, but “Feel free to pause me with any questions” is much more upsetting than “Feel free to interrupt at any time”

It’s also what employers & students are saying, is the hard bit.
And plus everyone is very lazy and happy to fall back on talking points that feel well-understood

Much less so than you’d think, and “platforms and pilots” is one of my major areas of responsibility.
Vendors do say that, but vendors do say lots of things. Employers saying “gotta be AI-ready” and students coming back from internships reporting on expectations … it’s motivating!
04.12.2025 16:30 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0
It’s because every single employer who hires interns/co-ops/new grads is demanding it, or at least saying loudly they are prioritizing AI readiness in such roles. That’s the signal they’re responding to.

Pop girlies face a choice between nostalgia (Sabrina Carpenter, Tate Mccrae, Doja Cat, Chappell) and accelerationism (Charli, fka twigs, Grimes). Only Dua Lipa has managed Hegelian synthesis on the album Future Nostalgia

one year of tfa does not give you the right to call yourself a teacher and it drives me insane that this stolen valor is one of the primary outputs of tfa (besides union busting)

I can’t listen to them anymore because back in the day A & I played the blue live record as white noise at night, and so now I just involuntarily fall asleep.
(This isn’t a judgement, just a description of a behavior.)
Weirdly, given when I watch tv, that may mean I can watch this 😅

I’m at an age when I have to guard carefully against nostalgia—I agree with @judgejohnhodgman.bsky.social that it’s mostly a toxic impulse
With that said, I will be watching the new HBO Counting Crows documentary time and time again this long December
I am not worried
I am not overly concerned

Galaxy brain meme.
Panel 1: Jonathan Harker found paprika hendl spicy because he is pathetically English.
Panel 2: Hungarian paprika ranges from mild to very spicy; it's perfectly possible our friend Jonathan was served the spicy stuff
Panel 3: "paprika hendl uses sweet paprika" recipes change quickly over time an dplace, Jonathan may have been served a regional variant
Panel 4 (text running off bottom): PAPRIKA USED TO BE SPICER holy shit it used to be spicier before sweeter peppers were cultivated in the 1920s. plus the machine to remove the spicy pith and seeds was only invented in the 1860s. 19th century Hungarian cuisine was simply spicier than its modern counterpart. not to mention how even "mild" paprikca can cause indigestion which is why it's so frequently served with sour cream
WELCOME TO THE DRACULA PAPRIKA DISCOURSE!!

Two screenshots designed in the style of Spotify Wrapped but they're presented as being a (nonexistent) Bluesky Wrapped
Screenshot 1:
You spent 738 posts on the following topics:
1. Dunking on the New York Times op-ed section
2. Talking about drama at New York Magazine
3. Weighing in on the New York City mayoral election
Screenshot 2:
Based on this, your most likely place to be located would be:
New York, NY
Instead, swipe to see where, based on geotagging, you actually live
Man, the Bluesky Wrapped 2025 is pretty brutal
