Sorry last thing for tonight: producers wrote beautiful card to say they’re looking forward to working together w/ me again, I gave them hugs and said “I want to work with you all again” and our stage manager went “that’s good, we’ve decided we’re keeping you. We don’t have any plans to let you go!”

My friends in the audience had NO IDEA anything went wrong AND were like “no that all seemed totally natural!”

We hit intermission—Music Director COMES TO DRESSING ROOM: “Flam, you are an absolute star. You diva! Queen. The band was so worried and the second you spoke I breathed easy, turned to them, and went “oh yeah, she’s got this.” Incredible.”
(I love this music director, he is SO validating)

They sing Dogfight, I hit the button on my last number, am helped down the stairs / thank the crowd “We’re here all week! Try the veal!” and once offstage SWARMED BY CAST: “incredible save omfg that improv etc. etc.”
Producer comes into changing room, “Flam, that was excellent, VERY quick thinking”

Lean in and project “do you want another one?” and the crowd ATE IT UP!!! Cheers! Wolf whistle! I go “Well! You’ll want a drink for this one, get nice and limbered up, here we go!” and by that point Marcy had gone off, found Boland, and dragged him downstage. Back to miming!

I’m on a platform and am supposed to mime performing while Marcy/Boland head downstage. Except for whatever reason Boland wasn’t anywhere? So I thank the crowd/bend down / pull lipstick out of my boobs to put on Marcy (audience LAUGHS), STILL quiet so I stand and go to the standing mic (not on)—

It was opening night and it went SO WELL!!!!!! I cry!!!!!!!! I made so many mistakes during dress and did not make a SINGLE mistake tonight AND!!!!!!!! I saved a scene / covered for a mistake in such a way that it was INDISTINGUISHABLE to the audience! And EVERYONE came back stage to laud me (omfg)

To get mic pack under costume, I walked into the theatre in nude character heels, pantyhose, a cream crinoline (hiked up like a mini dress) and a push up bra and one of our producers looked at me and went “God, Flam, you seriously make everything you put on your body work.”
